March 7 (UPI) -- Amazon will stream the first Black Friday game in NFL history for free later this year on its Prime Video platform, the company announced Tuesday.
The game is to kick off at 3 p.m. EST Nov. 24. The teams involved in the matchup and the location of the game will be announced later. The NFL typically releases its full-season schedules in May.
"We're excited to expand our relationship with the NFL and build a new holiday tradition for our customers with the first Black Friday NFL game," Prime Video vice president and global head of Sports Jay Marine said in a news release.
"We're so very proud of our Thursday Night Football production and all the teams in front of and behind the camera. As families look to spend time together over the holiday weekend, we are excited to provide an opportunity for everyone to enjoy this new day of NFL action."
Charissa Thompson, Tony Gonzalez, Richard Sherman, Andrew Whitworth, Taylor Rooks and Michael Smith will be in the pregame broadcast crew for the Black Friday matchup. Broadcasters Al Michaels, Kirk Herbstreit and Kaylee Hartung will provide in-game coverage.
The Hall of Fame Game -- the first preseason game each year -- will be Aug. 4 in Canton, Ohio. The regular season schedule is expected to start Sept. 7.

Probably smart. Certainly better than Monday Night Football at 9pm preventing most people on the East Coast who have jobs from actually watching it.

Clever - get everybody onto Amazon on one of the biggest shopping days of the year.
8:15 ET. And given the ratings I don’t think they get an east coast problem. That being said the west does get optimal sports viewing.
Amazon Prime cost money, so it’s not free.
It sounds like another step into the streaming arena for professional sports.
Who knows maybe in the future, Sports will be found entirely on streaming services, and will bypass the Legacy broadcast networks and the cable Sports Networks that are out there.
I'm thinking everything will be streaming and will be archives for viewing anytime. This will have major impact on the legacy networks, as it currently is.
They will let you try it free for 30 days and then cancel. My last order they included prime without my asking for it. Of course I cancelled it later.

Amazon and the NFL wish far more viewers would watch the Amazon NFL stream but it hasn't happened.
I don’t watch TV. However I have found sports high lights on youtube to be stimulating and very watchable.
When you subtract all the commercials, the half time “festivities,” and unimportant do-nothing plays, the average 3 hour NFL game can be reduced to 25 or 30 minutes. Amazing, isn’t it?
The only downside to this is that you’re not watching it live. But the high lights are usually released on youtube shortly after the live game ends.
youtube has high lights of most major sports including college and pro. Football and basketball, some others.

I think you will not need to have paid a Prime fee. They will still make you do a trial membership. But most people who watch the NFL already hve Prime so it is a bit of a bogus come-on.
