Pedro Domecq began producing Kahlúa in 1936. In 1994, the company merged with Allied Lyons forming Allied Domecq. In 2005, Allied Domecq was partially acquired by Pernod Ricard which merged with the Swedish Vin & Sprit (V & S Group) in March of 2008.
Kahlúa is made from coffee and rum, so it does contain caffeine. Kahlúa is found to be used in a few notable cocktails, including the following:
B-52
Baby Guinness
Black Russian
Mudslide
White Russian
Espresso Martini
Caribbean Mudslide

It’s a nice day to start again
It’s a nice day for a White Russian!
It’s a nice day to start again!........................
If I drank any booze at all, it would be Kahlua . Delish, as I recall.
No, I’m not an alcoholic, but my son was and it killed him. So I quit my glass of wine per nite.
Used to have a co-worker that was smart as all get-out.
Excellent tech, and was highly intelligent.
Except for alcohol. He could not leave it alone, and it finally killed him.......................
You mix a hell of a Caucasian Jackie.
Once I drank Kahlua straight... Once.
Well darn. I still have my Margarita decorations up
I have that in my freezer right now! Had to switch to Yukon Jack when someone decided to stop making Jeremiah Weed bourbon liqueur. Miss JW. I wish they would bring it back.
So sad, isn’t it. My son was always the smartest and best-looking person in the family. Alcohol is a horrible addiction, but he refused to go to AA, which works for a lot of people.
Like the old saying, you can’t fix stupid, sometimes you just can’t fix smart.

I’m so sorry for your loss. I lost a Marriage and a Step Son and a Nephew to drug addictions.
And for anyone else lurking here today, I agree that AA is the way to go, and for we ‘survivors’ of the messes others make for us, Al-Anon is a life saver! It screwed my head back on straight. ;)
I went to Alanon for a few years when I first moved to this city. Great group, made lasting friends there. Then the @#$!#$ governor shut down the state for “Covid” and the meetings never got organized again. Big sigh.
Make your own Kahlua. It’s really simple.
PLEASE NOTE: Don’t make it with Everclear, unless you hale from Arkansas, Mississippi or Alabama and have some leftover Moonshine to use up. Ye-Gawds!
Substitute a mid-range Vodka, or if you’re from Wisconsin, (or wish you were!) use Brandy for a richer flavor.

My Step Mom used to make this. We always had Black Russians at her house at Christmastime. Because ‘Holiday’ and ‘Crazy Relatives’ ain’t any FUN until you throw some alcohol into the mix! :)
Shot of vodka and a teaspoon of instant coffee...............
Call your friends! Start your own group. At least meet for coffee.
I have a good friend that just got divorced for the same reasons I did way back when; she’s been going to Al Anon and she’s doing great.
I knew it was over for my family unit when the ex decided to sign Sonny out of Rehab and take him bar hopping for the day.
Father of the Year, that one. *SPIT*
OK - back to the program...:)
Black Russians sou good enough for me to buy a bottle of vodka. For years, I bought a bottle of Vanilla Vodka at the beginning of summer, but then I started forgetting that I had it. Certain friends of mine couldn’t believe anyone could forget vodka in the fridge. Maybe I’ll buy one next June.
At this point, I’m drinking zero alcohol. Not in any way an alcoholic but my son was and he died from it. Moderation in all things, please.
