(CNN) - The U.S. military is telling active-duty soldiers to stop eating poppy seed bagels, pastries and other foods with poppy seeds.

The top Pentagon official for personnel sent a memo warning service members that eating poppy seeds could cause them to fail drug tests

Not this sh1t again! The Air Force Drug Testing Lab figured out how to screen out these metabolites 25 years ago after a busload of swabbies all tested positive for opioids after eating sandwiches on poppyseed rolls. Do we learn nothing?

If someone text positive for opiates they’re going to test positive for other drugs like THC or amphetamine that are not confused with poppy seed alkaloids.

I’m sure most of the time, but not always. Anyways, it’s a moot point. Pop positive for anything illicit and you’re finished.

All I know is I’ve got 19.5 years under my belt. I’ll be damned if I’m gonna get tossed out on my ass with nothing to show for it except a Big Chicken Dinner (the gift that keeps on giving) for eating poppyseed bagels.

I’ll heed the DoD’s advice until they can figure out how to un-f**k this.

Well, when I’d go TDY (Temporary Duty) to Italy in the 1970s, the WATER was off-limits to drink. Salads too because they were washed in the water. We drank wine.
