Nebraska cops thwarted an active shooter who began firing off rounds of ammunition inside an Omaha Target before he was gunned down Tuesday afternoon, authorities said.
The suspect, armed with an AR-15 rifle, sent shoppers and workers fleeing for cover when he began shooting inside the megastore at around 12 p.m., according to Omaha police.
A potential massacre was averted when the first cops responding to the scene quickly shot and killed the unidentified man...
...Target employees helped shoppers make it out of the store safely and the retail workers just went through active shooter training.

Fortunately, none of the employees were wearing t-shirts with the company logo, leaving the the shooter confused and not sure where to aim.
Omaha cops overreacted and broke procalls! They were suppose to surround the store not let anyone out and not go in before the call the local gang leaders to make sure it wasn’t any of their people then order coffee and donuts arrest anyone that try to rescue anyone trapped inside while thye wait for an airstrike
Wonder how many time they’ve had to do it.
I agree, don’t like it a damn bit either. But it has been a thing for as long as I’ve been old enough to notice. So 50+ years, maybe going on 60
And that’s the way to handle this
No they don’t have the name yet. Identified the shooter as a white male
I remember reading a column by Jean Shepherd in Car & Driver, many years ago, in which he speculated that people shoot road signs because the signs are always bossing people around, telling them what to do and what not to do. He suggested putting up signs here and there that said such things as Go Ahead and Pass on This Blind Corner, After All You Only Live Once. I don’t believe any highway departments ever tried this, though.
Their writers were a fun group back in that era.
And I just read the Wikipedia entry for Jean Shepherd. I clearly need to catch up on some of his writings, I think I would enjoy them.
Jean Shepherd is a longtime favorite of mine; I have most of his books. I’m sure you’ll enjoy them too.
It seems so.
You can’t bond out from the cemetery.
Vote? Yes.
Bond out? Not so much.
The officer did it right. He engaged the suspect immediately instead of the Uvalde nonsense of waiting for whatever it is they were waiting for...
The AP people at Target wear a shirt with an embroidered badge on the chest, and in the center of that badge is a target. I find that amusing.
Yeah, weird since Target is so woke.
Or suicide by cop.
Also two officers of the OPD got sho\ wounded during burglary at a self storage site bad guy ends up DRT (Dead right there)!
This is Omaha Nebraska not Portland or Seattle sure as shit ain’t the NE corridor! Any police airstrikes would involve B-52 strikes hich tends to be just a little hard on storefronts.
