Jamin Pugh, better known as Jay Briscoe to wrestling fans around the world, has passed away at the young age of 38.
Ring of Honor owner Tony Khan took to social media Tuesday night to announce that Briscoe has died. There was no initial information on Briscoe’s cause of death. However, the WWE later acknowledged his passing in a car accident Tuesday evening.
This is absolutely shocking news around the wrestling world.
At the time of his death, Briscoe was one-half of the Ring of Honor World Tag Team Champions with his brother, Mark. He was also a two-time ROH World Champion and a ROH World Six-Man Tag Team champion.
A native of Maryland, Jay Briscoe made his debut back in May of 2000. He joined Combat Zone Wrestling in 2001 and lasted until 2003 before making his return in 2010. He was a member of Jersey All Pro Wrestling from 2001-2002 and again in 2005. In 2002, Briscoe made his debut with the Ring of Honor.
For the broader wrestling world, this tragic news comes amid a time of widespread change. It’s far more important than the drama surrounding wrestling, and had people at a loss Tuesday evening.
He was killed in a car accident.
You know perfectly well this is perfectly normal. </sarcasm>
I hope most car accidents don’t end in a fatal accident.
Suddenly and unexpectedly
Most car accidents are.
He probably wasn’t wearing a seatbelt. 99% of people who wear seatbelts will survive all but the worst of accidents.
Was the car vaxxed?
I wonder if the car accident occurred because he lost control of the vehicle due to Heart Attack, or Stroke?
“. There was no initial information on Briscoe’s cause of death. However, the WWE later acknowledged his passing in a car accident Tuesday evening.”
Yep. Princess Diana’s accident was the perfect illustration. 4 people in car with only one belted. That one survived. The other 3 unbelted all died.
At age 38, so he would have been born in 1985? So he made his debut at age 15?
I can see why he changed his name for wrestling purposes.
Jay Briscoe sounds stronger, catchier than Jamin Pugh, which sounds vaguely like some kind of retort.
Particularly ones that are head in
there were a couple of Briscoe brother wrestlers a long time ago ... I think one was Sonny. Maybe this guy was related or just wanted to capitalize on the name.
He wasn’t. His two children were and survived
No. His car was hit head on by another car
Vaxxine involvement?
Yikes!
