Growing shares of Americans believe that a person’s gender is determined by their sex assigned at birth, according to a new Pew Research Center survey, which finds major differences by religion on this question and others about transgender issues.
Among U.S. adults overall, six-in-ten now say that whether a person is a man or a woman is determined by their sex assigned at birth. This figure is even higher among White evangelicals (87%) and Black Protestants (70%). Among Catholics, the share who say a person’s gender cannot differ from sex at birth has risen from 52% in 2021 to 62% this year.
By contrast, a majority of religiously unaffiliated Americans (58%) say a person’s gender can be different from their sex assigned at birth, with atheists (76%) and agnostics (67%) especially likely to hold this view. The survey was conducted among Americans of all religious backgrounds, including Jews, Muslims, Buddhists and Hindus. But it did not obtain enough respondents from non-Christian religious groups to report separately on their responses.
.. White evangelicals are the only religious group analyzed in which a majority say that society has gone too far in accepting transgender people. Members of other Christian traditions – including White non-evangelical Protestants, Black Protestants and Catholics – are more divided over whether society has gone too far, not far enough, or been “about right” in accepting transgender people.
Most White evangelical Protestants (71%) say that views about transgender issues and people who don’t identify as a man or a woman are changing too quickly. Half or fewer of other Christians and roughly three-in-ten religious “nones” share this perspective....
White evangelicals are a heavily Republican group, while religious “nones” are heavily Democratic; overall, Republicans are much more likely than Democrats to say that society has gone too far in accepting people who are transgender. Likewise, younger people account for a relatively large share of religiously unaffiliated adults and are more likely to believe that society has not gone far enough in accepting transgender people.
Although only approximately 7% of adult and adolescent males reported having had male-to-male sexual contact at some point in their lives, 82% of HIV infections among males in 2018 were attributed to male-to-male sexual contact. (CDC: Estimated HIV Incidence and Prevalence in the
United States, 2015–2019P. 7)
92% of HIV infections among men aged 13 to 24 was attributed to male-to-male sexual contact, and young gay and bisexual men accounted for 83% (6,385) of all new HIV diagnoses in people aged 13 to 24 in 2019, and 81% of diagnoses of HIV infection among all Adolescents and Young Adults.
The United States is expected to spend more than $26 billion annually on HIV. (https://www.healthline.com/health/hiv-aids/facts-statistics-infographic)
God made man and women distinctively different yet
uniquely compatible and complementary, and only joined them together in marriage - as the Lord Jesus Himself specified (Mt. 19:4-6; cf. Gn. 2:24) - and only condemned homosexual relations wherever they are manifestly dealt with.

“Growing shares of Americans believe that a person’s gender is determined by their sex assigned at birth, according to a new Pew Research Center survey”
A growing share??
I swear 20 years ago it was 99.999999%.
They’re trying to make it sound like at some time in the past this level of delusion was widely accepted.
It seems the media left has eliminated the Evangelical category and now calls it the “white Evangelicals”, which kills it by just making it about ‘white people thinking’ rather than about Evangelical Christianity.
I don’t see it as a religious issue.
I see it as a sanity issue.
This spring all the birds will begin to pair up, make nests and lay eggs to make bird families.
So this many humans can’t grasp basic biology but birds can?
An excellent point to make.
“XX” or “XY”. No asterisk added for “preferences”. But, not for me to judge. Don’t hate or fear. Disagreeing is not hate.
I think a lot of people just think “do whatever you want and leave me alone”. I wonder if some day they will realize that they won’t be left alone. It will always get worse and they will always be forced to accept it.
Ignoring this won’t make it go away.
I’d like to see how Hispanics poll on this stuff.
Wouldn’t gender determined by biology be...science?
Attitudes about that stuff don’t vary at all among REAL Christians.
The Ignore It And It Will Go Away position was embraced by many Republicans and directly led to gay marriage being legalized and now essentially forced on all 50 states.
“...sex assigned at birth...”
Sex is not assigned, sex is observed.
No: context is 2017 to 2022. The increase is likely due to the issue becoming more clarified, with the homosexual activist demanding every human from the unborn to fossils not being assigned any gender, "after all, Neanderthal man could have been non-binary" as with the unborn, and gender dysphoria being fostered among already bewildered youth, with puberty suppressants and prep for gender transitioning following for the suggestible. Damnable diagnosis and doctors.
I was never a fan of it but I can get why people think like that.
Lipka and Tevington both flunked high school biology apparently.
That’s why they’re hack writers for a crap propaganda operation.
This poll shows a general trend in the right direction — a movement back towards sanity. Unfortunately there’s a long way to go.
