Mexico Is Not Really an American Friend
American Greatness ^ | 18 Jun, 2023 | Victor Davis Hanson

One sure sign of historic national decline is the collective inability of a government and its people to defend their own borders and national sovereignty.

Left-wing Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador recently praised a visiting Joe Biden: “Just imagine: There are 40 million Mexicans in the United States—40 million who were born here in Mexico, [or] who are the children of people who were born in Mexico!”

Why wouldn’t Obrador be delighted? Since Biden took office in January 2021, America has allowed some 5-6 million illegal entries across its southern border.

Obrador further congratulated the malleable Biden whom he apparently sees as a kindred but complacent left-wing spirit: “You are the first president of the United States in a very long time that has not built even one meter of wall.”

Translated that means Mexico is delighted the United States now cares little about the security of its own border, the disappearance of which apparently is wonderful news for Mexico.

Note that Mexico itself facilitates illegal transits across its own southern border—as long as such Central American and other global migrants keep heading northward into the United States.

But when or if they pause, try to stay in Mexico, commit crimes, or expect Mexican social services, then almost immediately Mexico City sends thousands of troops to close its border with Guatemala, deports the illegal crossers, and revives talk of building a border wall of its own.

Biden has demolished America’s southern border. His illegal nullification of U.S. immigration law is music to Obrador’s ears.

But it is a nightmare to Americans who poll overwhelming disapproval of the subversion of their own border security. They are exhausted by the influx of death-dealing drugs. And they are furious over the hundreds of billions of dollars diverted from their own strapped social

If China attacks us, they will secretly ship a bunch of troops to start the assault to Mexico and we’ll get hit from that direction. Hide and watch, wait and see. Swalwell isn’t the only congress member compromised by China. The river gate in Babylon was left open by someone or a group of people bribed by the Medes and Persians.

I am appalled at the stupidity of the American people and the government here, both of which believe themselves to be invincible. One of favorite sayings I post frequently applies:

It’s not so much what you don’t know that will get you in trouble. It’s what you know that AIN’T SO.

~Mark Twain

Also appalled. Extremely. This isn’t the past. Things have changed.

While I have met many people in different countries who are nice people and like America and Americans, as a country, I am not sure how any friends America really has.

You’re right. It’s not a question of friends and enemies but of interests. AMLO got along with Trump because Trump made it in Mexico’s interest to do so. Now Biden demands nothing from Mexico and AMLO likes it. What national leader wouldn’t like it when his neighbor is such a pushover.

There really are no “Friends” among nations, only aligned interests. We have a long history of messing with Mexico’s internal politics and screwing up their government. That they want a little back from us should be expected.

Talking to individual Mexicans, they kind who live in Mexico and not coming to the US illegally, they are not happy with Biden’s border policy. Our open borders are creating a lot of problems for Mexico from the trafficking of people and drugs through their country. Closing down our borders would be a move to align our policies to the national interests of Mexico but as long as our borders are open they are willing to throw as many of their problems over it as they can.

So true. This article says communism actually first tried to gain control of Mexico before even Russia but was thwarted by the church. I think at times the government has been somewhat Marxist or had governments with a certain Marxist leaning.

The communists considered Mexico “fertile ground”.

In retrospect I wish México HAD been taken over by communists as we could have easily smashed them when our politicians still had balls. Maybe it could have been stomped out, instead it became mysteriously powerful in Russia and spread across the world where it’s still alive in places like China and certain groups of the Democratic Party here.

They never really were. We should invade and take them over completely. It would cut down on illegal immigration completely.

The country we attacked and stole half of their territory in a war of aggression isn’t our friend?

If the tables had been turned, they would have attacked and stolen half our territory.

That's what countries have done forever and no one is immune.

In fact, the Indians whose territory was taken by the white man probably took that very territory from another tribe.

And if they could have killed every paleface, sailed to Europe and attack his home land, they would have.

And as to the poor people who were imported as slaves from Africa, if they could have enslaved and sold the white man for profit to the Muslims, they would have done so without a moment's hesitation.

Welcome to the real world!

Mexico is odd. In WWII they provided troops for fight the Japs; but, they also had an agreement with the them to allow them to invade us through Mexico.

Yes, but that is only the first part. Orchestrated crisis is supposed to collapse the system so people will be disillusioned with the free market system. The second part is that it is planned so people will be in such despair that they will grasp for communism to save them. It is all planned to usher in communism which has always caused more death and suffering (at the hands of tyrants) than any other economic system.

I've said here repeatedly that I despise Mexico and it's people. Thieves, parasites and arrogant beggars is what they are. They hate us and that ''humble Mexican immigrant'' bs is just that- bullshit. Enter Mexico illegally and start demanding rights and benefits and you'll be worm food in fifteen minutes.
