Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Ivan Provorov skipped warmups on Tuesday because he refused to wear the gay pride jersey the team sponsored for its gay pride night game.
Provorov maintained that his Russian Orthodox religion prevents him from supporting the LGBTQ agenda and that is why he chose not to participate in the warmup session where the jerseys and sticks wrapped in gay pride tape were used to celebrate the team’s gay pride night, the New York Post reported.
Provorov noted that everyone is always talking about “choice,” and said, “I respect everybody. I respect everybody’s choices.” He added “my choice is to stay true to myself and my religion.”
The team put out a statement, but did not address the player’s actions directly.
“The Philadelphia Flyers organization is committed to inclusivity and is proud to support the local LGBTQ+ community,” the statement said. “Many of our players are active in their support of local LGBTQ+ organizations, and we were proud to host our annual Pride Night again this year. The Flyers will continue to be strong advocates for inclusivity and the LGBTQ+ community,” the Flyers said.

It seems Eastern Orthodox Christianity is the only one truly willing to stand up to the Woke Left. Almost all of the Catholic and Protestant denominations have caved but the Orthodox church seems to stand stronger. I guess that’s because they had to withstand the persecution of the Communist Party for seventy years, but maybe the Western churches should take notice.
One hockey analyst is going nuts over this. Trying to make a name for himself by ragging on this Russian refusenik. Refusing to don a gay clown suit to play hockey. With hockey sticks wrapped in gay rainbow colors.
I wonder if he will be “allowed” to play in Canada against teams up there. Off to Castreau’s re-education camps first??

The team should never have been put in this position in the first place. Stay with Sports only. Once you start endorsing social causes, you give up your individuality.
Next thing you know, a group of Satanists will want the team wearing their special shirts and armbands too.
You know that’s coming. “Why not? You do it for other causes. Why do you discriminate?”

In a few years the Philadelphia Flyers will have a trans coming out night? Can’t leave them out. The players will be forced to get female hormone shots and wear ladies wigs. And when they get into a fight, they must take off their hockey gloves, and claw at each other with their finger nails.
If Ivan Provorov were to ask my opinion about the english spelling of his last name (something that will never happen),
I would suggest one of those ‘V’s should be changed to ‘F’.
Proforov is easier to figure out for pronunciation.

Liberals are very tolerant with everyone they agree with.
This is the team that put a bag over the Kate Smith statue and canceled her outright. This is the team that had the pinnacle of masculinity of the Broad Street Bullies. Those days are gone and the team is putrid to boot but they are proud of being woke.
I’m sure he won’t have any problem latching on with a KHL team if it comes to that.
