A Texas elementary school teacher who was found dead in her backyard reportedly met her alleged killer on a dating app just a week before she was shot to death, it was revealed on Friday.
Wendy Duan’s boyfriend Charvas Thompson was arrested Wednesday in Louisiana, over 260 miles from where he allegedly shot her multiple times in her Sugar Land backyard last week.
The two had only been dating for a week before Thompson took Duan’s life, the victim’s mother, who did want to be identified, told KHOU 11.
They had met on the “MeetMe” dating app, which made Duan’s mother uncomfortable.
The distraught mother said she had a bad feeling about Thompson and warned Duan about the danger of meeting a stranger online.
“She showed me the picture,” Duan’s mother said. “I don’t know his name. She just saying, ‘Do you like him?’ I said ‘no.'”
Despite her strong intuition, Duan’s mother never imagined her daughter would end up dead.
“It’s unbelievable,” she said.
“The guy is very evil. He took her life away. I hope this guy gets the full legal punishment.”
Duan was a third-grade language arts teacher with the Alief Independent School District and was named English as a Second Language (ESL) Teacher of the Year in December 2021.

That’s not correct. Husbands are the least likely to murder wives.
It’s part of liberal propaganda to lump them in with boyfriends to produce that category (error). It’s why the national media will often pick up stories about a husband who murders his wife to help the narrative.
other leftist category error narratives (logical fallacies)-
-blacks, women, gays
-single parents, widows/widowers
“Why was the profession important?”
The profession of the victim would have more significance than where they were victimized, IMHO. If she were a drug dealer for instances...
But evil perps go to Walmart and McDonalds and Church also. It’s situational awareness that will keep you safe.
Teachers have a higher social score with women and women are the target audience for almost every news story
pretty sure it’s everyone is more likely to be murdered or assaulted by someone they know than a stranger
So you’re saying there was no violence because you left?
True story.
Daddy told me to look for a church going woman. So I did. What a completely insane disaster that turned out to be. That woman ruined my life.
Later on women would ask “Who ruined you?”
My sister told me that “You weren’t the only one.”
I believe I was blessed. Blessed that I never got a dilibating STD from that stupid idea.
I bet she was breaking up with him and he didn’t take rejection well.
“Bad boys” or “bad girls” tend to be charming narcissistic types. It’s funny to hear my divorced friend complaining about how dating people change once you get to know them. I’ve been consistent and loyal throughout the ten years and am not seen as mate material. Realistically I had the ex husband’s number before I even met him. I also knew that I couldn’t stop the quick marriage although I did say slow it down. If they cheat in the months before marrying don’t expect things to be different in the marriage. It wasn’t.
Only because the young interns at the newspapers do all their research online. It is easy to discover a lot about teachers, since they publish everything on the school website.
HR departments won't publish squat about accountants, and accountants are less likely to be a mass user and publisher of social media.
I wouldn’t call him a boyfriend after a week of dating
I have not even looked. Let me guess. Black perp...white victim. How’d I do?
You tell your cousin to watch out. As my MIL used to say, at that age, men are either looking for a nurse or a purse!
she should of swiped left
The problem with ‘The Talk’ is that Derbyshire viewed an issue through his own eyes - not the societally prescribed lenses that blur everything to fit a woke leftist viewpoint. Worse, he cites data. Far worse, many readers intuitively recognize through experience what is being said as true.
I’d rather not have to have ‘The Talk’ with my kids, would obviously love to see evidence that the data has changed and risks described have abated. But that’s not the case today - and I’d encourage everyone to have ‘The Talk’.
Keep in mind the number of young children affected by this death. Not only her current year’s class.
look out for communication signs indicating a personality disorder.

____________
Yes, I noticed the same about fathers’ being lumped in with “father figures” (step-fathers, live-in boyfriends, etc.) in child abuse situations. Very dishonest.
I’m going to guess at what happened during this relationship.
First date- They go to McDonalds, after which he wants sex. She says “No, we just met”. He is disappointed.
Second date- They go to Burger King, after which he wants sex. She says “No, it’s too soon”. He is disappointed and upset.
Third date- They go to a movie, after which he wants sex. She says “No, I don’t want to see you anymore”. Now he is not only disappointed, but is also angry and feels disrespected that he has spent $40 on this girl and has nothing to show for it. So he kills her.
Sounds like Charvas used the dating app to locate his victim. How many other women has he raped and/or murdered?
Well, the perp is black. The victim looks like she may be black, but also could be part black and part Asian.
