A Texas elementary school teacher who was found dead in her backyard reportedly met her alleged killer on a dating app just a week before she was shot to death, it was revealed on Friday.
Wendy Duan’s boyfriend Charvas Thompson was arrested Wednesday in Louisiana, over 260 miles from where he allegedly shot her multiple times in her Sugar Land backyard last week.
The two had only been dating for a week before Thompson took Duan’s life, the victim’s mother, who did want to be identified, told KHOU 11.
They had met on the “MeetMe” dating app, which made Duan’s mother uncomfortable.
The distraught mother said she had a bad feeling about Thompson and warned Duan about the danger of meeting a stranger online.
“She showed me the picture,” Duan’s mother said. “I don’t know his name. She just saying, ‘Do you like him?’ I said ‘no.'”
Despite her strong intuition, Duan’s mother never imagined her daughter would end up dead.
“It’s unbelievable,” she said.
“The guy is very evil. He took her life away. I hope this guy gets the full legal punishment.”
Duan was a third-grade language arts teacher with the Alief Independent School District and was named English as a Second Language (ESL) Teacher of the Year in December 2021.

Whatever happened to the good old days when you met people in a nightclub?
Charvas…
Real life isn’t a sitcom or tv commercial.
Toll paid.
Yes it's what they do. It is etched into their genetic makeup.
Best not to use dating apps at all.
Desperately seeking...
Actually, your just as likely to be murdered by someone at McdDonalds, Walmart or even someone you meet at Church, as a dating app.
It’s a dangerous, dangerous world out there...especially for girls and young women. There are men out there who might look good...and even sound good...until you say “no” to them. It’s then that they find out what he’s really about.

Best I can give you is social media, and the rise of things like dating apps. You can now shop for a potential partner on dating apps like you’re browsing on amazon. For some it’s that easy, for many it’s like seeing the words “Out of Stock” on many items.
Dating apps are toxic as hell, I know this from personal experience. For a lot of men they’re a waste of money, but cheaper than going out to bars or clubs. For a couple of hundred dollars for a subscription you can eventually offset the cost going to bars and clubs, and at the same time experience 10x the rejection. When you’ve been, neglected, ghosted, or seem to match with crazies, morbidly obese, escorts, girls pimping their Onlyfans, women past their mid 30’s deluded enough to think they’ll start a family near 40, and a few trannies; you realize it’s just time to walk away and work on yourself for a bit. I’ve been less stressed since I walked away.
I also have a lady friend who uses apps like Tinder as well, she’s a story for another time, but I wouldn’t let my manhood get within ten miles of that woman.
The long/short, modern dating is kind of trash; if you’re lonely or not happy in life, work on your own happiness first, you’ll be better off in the long run. If you find someone after all that, it was probably meant to be.
The stats I’ve heard cited say that a woman is more likely to be murdered by a husband/ex husband/boyfriend/ex boyfriend than anyone else. In fact I’ve heard it said many times that murder victims in general, more likely than not,are acquainted with their killer in one way or another.
Would the death have been less tragic if she was an accountant rather than a teacher?
Why was the profession important?
There are many points to the talk that do Warrenton discussion with someone’s children. I never had that talk but my daughters have been told basically the same thing.
Example: went to St. Patrick’s Day in Savannah, GA a few years back. Our group, 4 couples, got out of there immediately when the BLM idiots showed up and created a ruckus. I saw them coming down the street and told everyone we’re leaving and I suggest everyone come with us. They did and thankfully the coverage I saw on TV there wasn’t any violence.

It has been my experience that beyond the age of about 25, attractive, desirable women don’t usually use dating apps - they don’t need to.
After 55, this is certainly the case. A woman who still desires an intimate relationship has lots of interest. My cousin is 75, has a sweet, fun personality and still looks smashing.
It is amazing to watch how men act around her - if she wanted she could have any of them.
On the other hand, dating sites for seniors have lots and lots women who just want somebody to buy them a nice meal.
