I was surprised to learn something recently about the topic of this thread.
A friend of mine reported that he tried some locally bought (at a smoke shop) delta 8 gummies. Though delta 8 is a supposedly milder form with delta 9 being the regular, stronger stuff, my friend reported to me that, after 1 gummie (100mg), he was too stoned to drive (he was at home though). This guy also said he hasn't smoked a joint in many years and never takes even over-the-counter drugs unless his doctor insists. He said he ate this gummie more as a lark than because he thought would actually feel anything. He described his experience as possibly a little too "strong."
The bottom line from this report is that pot is now basically legal in 30 states...even in some states with very strict pot laws. This means that anyone can waltz into a smoke shop and walk away with a container of completely legal potent ingestibles.
Do youse guys know anything about this? What are your thoughts?
Isn’t hemp just the fibrous part of the cannabis plant?
You can walk into any liquor store in this country and buy Everclear. So there you go.
Vote for our team and we’ll keep you stoned.
half a Benadryl is a perfect sleep aid to help you get to sleep with no morning drowsiness. Full dose results in a groggy morning, in my experience.
However, 3mg melatonin is the BEST..it doesn’t make you sleepy, it merely helps you sleep more soundly. You’ll awaken in the same position in which you fell asleep, fully rested, no tossing and turning and no brain fog to start the day. I recommend sundown brand...it has been the best of three brands I’ve tried so far.
Just a suggestion, for anyone interested.
...that is all
I beg to differ. For all their tolerance dims are very intolerant of MJ. Most smokers are conservative or Libertarian (from my own experience). Personally it helps sift out the BS. MJ amplifies what you already are. If it makes some folks dumb and easy to manipulate, they were already dumb and easy.
Thx for that comment on melatonin. I might try it for sleep.
Over the Road drivers need to watch out for CBD creams. I know one who used them for pain relief after a hernia operation and came up hot for THC after a drug test. DOT tests are outdated and made it looked like he’d just smoked a joint. “Legal” is legal as much as Joe Biden.
“Isn’t hemp just the fibrous part of the cannabis plant?”
It is more like a cousin, I believe. Hemp cannot (legally) contain more than a minute percentage of delta 9 thc. This skirts weed laws, as they are written to specify delta 9 as the illegal agent. Variations of delta 8 have recently been synthesized and are sold in a legally gray area. 8 and 9 are not the same.
The problem is getting access to marijuana oil. You likely have to grow it. We had a hemp farm in the family so I have access to that as well.
The problem is that is likely illegal to possess so I can’t travel with it.
No it is a different variety. Hemp won’t get you high.
Our local health food store sells a sleep gummy that definitely makes you sleepy. I tried one not long ago and was surprised at how much of an effect they have.
Hemp, at least those used for fiber, are a different strain or the cannabis plant. It’s a plant that does not have high THC content or big buds.
If you’ve ever seen a hemp farm there are lots of signs that say-in essence—“Please don’t come in and steal the plants…they aren’t gonna get you high.”
Doubtful. I believe the creams would have to process through the liver to show up on the test. I’m guessing he probably ingested something.
Just teasing here... Is the “speak no evil against weed” rubbing off on you? :)
Personally as a true ex-pothead who no longer cares about it, I’m not at all concerned what happens to commercial businesses who deal weed. It is just more “dumbing down” of this country and has no positive aspects. Even what tax revenue is collected is being spent on more woke dumbing down garbage...
What happens if you take 3 or more gdummies?
The oil comes from a process of heating the plant matter to “activate” the weed. Then you “slow cook” in a medium. This medium is usually a coconut or olive oil. The CBD molecules attach to the oil molecules.
That oil can then be used directly, or in cooking.
Alternatively, you can mix the “activated” plant matter with Everclear to create a tincture.
The THC levels in the oil would be dependent on the plant, the activation process, and the type of oil.
Transportation of any pot product across state lines is risky. You must be sure of the rules from one location to the next. 1 Oz in one state is legal. It will get you fined in another.
100 mg?! Yeah, he was WAY over what he should’ve take. D8 is derived from hemp. It takes a LOT more hemp to create D8 than what you get from the traditional marijuana plant. The “high” is similar and broken out into indica and sati a strains the same as pot.
You HAVE to start small, esp with edibles. Cut that 100 mg gummy into quarters and start there. D8 can be just as intense as marijuana, but it lasts approximately half as long and takes almost twice as much to achieve similar effects. Tolerance also builds quicker, so some folks will alternate between D8 and D10.
I’m a big guy (~250 lb), and 50 mg of indica put me on my butt in less than an hour. I had an unsavory experience. I try to target 25 mg for indica (the sleepy variety) and 30-45 mg for sativa (the heady, energetic variety). YMMV, but never go right into the high dosing. Start off around 10% of body weight in mg.
(Body weight)/10 = dose in mg
We Both retired a couple years ago and have considered growing a couple plants.
It is too bad you can’t travel with it, that’s when I find I need some relief from driving long distances and my body hurts and feels locked in upright seated position.
It’s based on the strain (sativa vs indica). D8, 9, and 10 are naturally occurring chemical chains with D9 being the most stable.
I think everybody is a little different. What works for one may or may not work for someone else.
I often take a half a Benadryl for sleep. It helps. I haven’t tried a 3 mg melatonin but have tried a time released 4 mg version, with mostly good results.
My husband doesn’t like either of them.
