“This summer, oysters from Louisiana sickened Floridians.”
If the month does not have an “R” do not eat raw oysters.

Selective, Kumamotos and Chesapeake Bay.

Vibrio is awful. I ordered Rockefeller style on the Panhandle last year at a
trop cher foodie joint, and the middle ones weren't done - it was obvious the Romano hadn't even begun to melt. I said take them back, take them off my bill, and just bring me a dozen fried on a plate, no sauce. Waitress not happy lol.
Not taking any chances. I think Vibrio is vastly underreported, because most oysterheads (a) know they're gonna get it about every 10 years and (b) they know 98% of all cases resolve in 48 hours.

About 211 people … had diarrhea, vomiting and stomach pain within 12 to 48 hours after eating them. Sounds like an average day at a Taco Bell or Jack in the Crack.
To: Red Badger
I only ear them chargrilled anymore, unless it’s January or February. Maybe that’s not even safe these days..

Well at least we still have deep fried oysters.

....and just how much Death and Disease was caused by contaminated oysters harvested —> IN <— Florida?
The way I read this, they ALL came from somewhere OUT of state, but the article makes it sound like it’s a Florida problem.
Poor journalism...

Hi.
Not off topic, but what is the status of the suit FL v GA regarding the Swannee and the other river which flows into the bay?

...raw oysters harvested in Galveston Bay, Texas, and sold in Florida...frozen raw oysters harvested in an area of South Korea and distributed in 13 states including Florida...
...oysters from Louisiana sickened Floridians. A Broward County man died after eating a raw oyster from Louisiana..
This sounds more like an attack on Florida than a 'Florida problem'... is Cindy Krischer Goodman a 'Florida hater'?

Boudreaux told Thibodaux that he got some bad oysters last night.
Thib said “What happened?”.
Boudreaux said, “They are supposed to be an aphrodisiac. But I ordered 24 and only half of them worked.”

But Dickie, have you heard the "real" news of the day?
Yes, the Fenian bomb. Oh, dreadful.
No, Grossmith and Barrington.
- What?
- They're off tonight.
- Both of them?
- Yes.
- Why?
- Oysters.
- We shared luncheon.
- Did you swallow?
- No. I had sole.
- Off the bone?
- Yes. It was rather succulent.
- Wise man. Oysters can kill.
Unquestionably!
My aunt choked on a scallop at Herne Bay.
- Really?
- Tragic.
