Cheese is rich and creamy, and it’s irresistible on a cracker, paired with a selection of fresh fruit, or sprinkled over a bowl of chili. There are many delicious reasons to love cheese, and Americans really do love it. The per capita consumption is 40 pounds a year, or a little over 1.5 ounces a day.
As much as we love cheese, though, we’re a little afraid of it. When people talk about their fondness for cheese, it’s often in a guilty, confessional way, like “Cheese is my weakness.”
But “cheese is packed with nutrients like protein, calcium, and phosphorus, and can serve a healthy purpose in the diet,” says Lisa Young, RD, an adjunct professor of nutrition at New York University. So if Stilton makes you swoon or you always want more Parm on your pasta, know this: Research shows that even full-fat cheese won’t necessarily make you gain weight or give you a heart attack. It seems that cheese doesn’t raise or reduce your risk for chronic diseases, such as heart disease and type 2 diabetes, and some studies show it might even be protective.

Fabulous....grilled Cabot cheese on pumpernickel with red wine and Strawberries!
Cheese, like bacon, has a tendency to improve almost everything.
LOVE that stuff! It was the only good cheese I found when I moved back from the UK.
I was a fan of Wensleydale cheddar while there.
At it’s core, at the center of the earth, is a ball of spinning bacon, surrounded by a molten globe of cheese.
Cabot is the only cheese that doesn’t upset my stomach and I love it.
The best cheese is medium Cheddar. You’ve got a cheddar that can contact the spirit world.
I is having grilled cheese and ham now
Who did that tune?
You ain’t wrong
Who moved my cheese?
Cabot cheese is some of the best & crazy inexpensive, especially at Walmart.
Which tune is that?
I bet I have over a dozen different cheeses in my deli drawer right now. It’s a weakness for me, for sure.
Our Walmart carries Cabot. Check yours out.
I like them all bout love provolone
Since I was a kid, Velveeta has been a very popular product and I once enjoyed it. But today, it upsets my stomach and not knowing why. It turns out that Kraft changed its formula (I don’t when):
“Originally Velveeta was made from real cheese. Today, it’s mainly whey protein concentrate, milk protein concentrate, milk, fat, and preservatives. By the Food and Drug Administration’s standards, that’s not real cheese—which is why the FDA forced Kraft to change its label from “cheese spread” to “cheese product.”

But today, I see that Velveeta remains to be a popular product on the store shelves. And as far as I know, it is the only “cheese” product that does not require refrigeration.
The only cheese I’ve disliked was a fresh goat cheese. But I’m open to possibly finding milder ones...
Goat cheese is like liver pate - something I want to like when it’s described, but just don’t.
Any Venezuelan Beaver Cheese?
