They weren’t as cheesy as the 50’s horror pictures such as The Creature From the Black Lagoon or the giant spiders. Surprisingly I watched the original Dracula from the early 30’s and it wasn’t bad.

You remind me of my criticisms of “Top Gun: Maverick.” There were so many preposterous things in that movie that made me cringe that sucked all the enjoyment out of it. But others said “just suspend your disbelief and enjoy it.”

Yeah...or a Mach TEN ejection with no injuries and stopping in at the local cafe for some laughs.
Or a ridiculous terrain following mission for aircraft that should be given to missiles .
Little things like that.

Yeah, Peter Lawford. Thanks.
Recognized his face but couldn’t pull his name from memory.

It was Shelley Winters. Finally a movie where she played a character I liked. And her character’s husband was Jack Albertson, the unnamed postal worker in Miracle on 34th Street who had the “Santy Claus” mail in the dead letter department redirected to the courthouse.

"Strange Days"(1995), written by James Cameron, directed by then-wife Kathryn Bigelow. Ralph (Rafe?) Fiennes is a seedy ex-cop selling virtual reality experiences captured on digital media. He and his "Kato-esque" limo driver Angela Bassett are caught up in events surrounding the killing of a rap star right before the Y2K millennium.
Fiennes seems incapable of turning in a bad performance. That same year he played the soul-less bastard Nazi in "Schindler's List".

Quite correct, and the Judge in 34th also played Bob Crachet in the 1938 version of A Christmas Carol. The lady playing his wife opposite him was his real-life wife. Both were the parents of “Maureen Robinson” in the Lost in Space 60s TV series.

Not really a movie but leading up to New Year’s 2000, the X-Files and they spin-off series Millennium had a couple overlap episodes that fed right into the Y2K zeitgeist of the time.

Loved it.
At the time it was made it was just an excuse to have the Rat Pack together for a couple of days of fun and games in Las Vegas.
Why else would a song about a garbage truck be written and performed?
