Officers responded to a report of a woman who had given birth to a baby in a tent in the woods near the West Side Arena in Manchester just before 1 a.m., police said, per Boston 25 News. Alexandra, 26, allegedly lied to authorities about the baby’s whereabouts and claimed she had given birth prematurely.
After an hour of searching, police found the baby uncovered and struggling to breathe on the floor of a tent near the Piscataquag River at Electric Street, according to the Manchester Fire Department. Police transported the infant to Catholic Medical Center. The baby’s health is improving, according to hospital officials.
Manchester Fire Chief David Flurey reportedly identified Alexandra as the daughter of Eckersley.

Eck’s only WS win was with the Athletics.
Saw her picture. Definite druggie
I had read someplace else where she was adopted. Sometimes the genetics play a much larger role in a person’s development that we care to admit.
People choose to live this way.
For years, her parents offered to put her into a drug treatment program, but she refused and continued living homeless:

This kind of Lost Soul of a person could happen in any family, regardless of income.
My first reaction was the star baseball player must have been ignoring trouble inside his own family while he played ball.
I don’t know that. Some folks can be given materially, the best of everything, along with being treated with kindness, and this could still happen. Once you become older than 14 or 15, you start making choices for yourself. If you hang out with the wrong crowd, you have to decide to change.
A freeper once told me many of the homeless receive money from the government. This freeper found out while volunteering for a church charity (IIRC).
They choose to live this way while squirreling the money away or spending it on drugs.
He could adopt his grandchild if it were possible.
And then they stand on street corners with signs for food or whatever.
It’s folks like that who make it difficult for those who truly do need.
I try not to be judgemental because unless one walks in their shoes, we have no clue as to their circumstances. Many of these people are blown away mentally and just cant make commitments of any kind, not even to pay the rent or wash their dishes. Most can’t handle being around people. Their freedom means more to them than anything. Many are soldiers; not currently in the military, but their lastrational thought occurred there. Some were so badly burned they can barely move.
Too much judgementalism among many people here. Recognize that your Fantasy may not at all be someone’s reality.
You sound like a good person. Indeed, many people are suffering, and many struggle with addiction or mental illness, and they live on the street. Some work odd jobs for cash. I'm not judging them.
But, some homeless people are playing the system. Some commit violent crime and theft. This woman left her baby in danger. Thank goodness the baby was found alive.
Ugh... In New Hampshire. In the Winter?
Agreed
Tragic. Dennis Eckersley has five or six children and wonderful wife. He said that when people see his plaque in the Hall of Fame, they will wonder if he played in the 1880’s, since he has a big mustache. Crazy daughter. Mental illness allows people to live maladaptive and sub-optimal lives.
I believe the drugs being used by a huge number of people in this country alter the brain’s ability to analyze information. Cognitive activities such as decision-making and inhibition in the brain’s highly evolved frontal cortex make the victims of such chemicals unable to function because of a basic disruption of the motivational circuits. Science understands this mechanism well and it is a shame nothing is done to take advantage of what is known to help these people. There should be a “Manhattan Project” to get a handle on this pandemic of the brain.
Why waste billions on another "Manhattan Project" when the solution is obvious: DON'T USE DRUGS!
Regards,
Huge role.
Have adopted children. They eventually grew up to be their bio parents... all financially and socially functional though.
very sad and disheartening.....
