State and military police were sent Tuesday to keep people off Buffalo’s snow-choked roads, and officials kept counting fatalities three days after western New York’s deadliest storm in at least two generations.
Even as suburban roads and most major highways in the area reopened, Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz warned that police would be stationed at entrances to Buffalo and at major intersections because some drivers were flouting a ban on driving within New York’s second-most populous city.
More than 30 people are reported to have died in the region, officials said, including seven storm-related deaths announced Tuesday by Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown’s office. The toll surpasses that of the historic Blizzard of 1977, blamed for killing as many as 29 people in an area known for harsh winter weather.
Greg Monett turned to social media to beg for help shoveling a 6-foot (1.8-meter) pile of snow from the end of his Buffalo driveway so he could get dialysis treatment Tuesday.
“This has been a nightmare,” he said in an interview Monday. Power had been out for a time at his family’s home, he said, so relatives ran a gas stove to keep warm, a practice he acknowledged was dangerous. …

How about doing something about the looters?
What are the Military Police driving?
Running a gas stove inside is dangerous. Plus your going to contribute to more Globull Warming. And your a racist for doing so.
Wrong use of troops, let people travel if they want, let them be accountable for their actions. Tired of the government deciding they know best. Better to use the troops to hunt down and kill looters.
Meanwhile...Brandon and Dr. (cough cough) Jill left for the Caribbean yesterday for a nice warm vacation.
What are the Military Police driving?>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Useless 4wd trucks.
The looters drive ski doos and are not even pursued.
I see the military is there to help. /s
Someone should ask the city of Buffalo and Erie County for stats on plowing.
My bet is, especially after the whiteout conditions lifted, a lot of this is due to the plow driver shortage.
And the shortage is due to the vaxx mandate.
Maybe it will quell the stealing from stores or at least bring it down to a less than car load volume for each participant.

Maybe I’m just a little salty this morning, but too many people out there are ignorant, and worse, indifferent to basic civics, their rights, as well as the role(s) of government of government to care.
Just softening us up for the police state.
They are making sure we know who is in charge.
From reports I have seen, Buffalo was doing fine without them.
I believe that ghoulish sow they elected, or appointed as governor is responsible for this.
According to 10 USC Ch. 15: MILITARY SUPPORT FOR CIVILIAN LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES
§275. Restriction on direct participation by military personnel The Secretary of Defense shall prescribe such regulations as may be necessary to ensure that any activity (including the provision of any equipment or facility or the assignment or detail of any personnel) under this chapter does not include or permit direct participation by a member of the Army, Navy, Air Force, or Marine Corps in a search, seizure, arrest, or other similar activity unless participation in such activity by such member is otherwise authorized by law.
I'm not so sure about that. There was not a vaccine requirement for NYSDOT personnel, nor Erie County employees, except for the state healthcare mandate.
It's more likely this is due to drivers getting COVID and I believe the main reason is that people are leaving jobs for better pay and benefits.
I hope the MPs have a few trannies among them.
