A Rap DJ is blown away by Roy Clark's skill on the guitar. He has since become a huge Roy Clark Fan.
Indicative of nothing except perhaps there is hope for this world after all.
Roy Clark flew his own small plane to Montgomery, AL to pick up one of two five gallon buckets of mountain oysters we “harvested” annually. He was hilarious and quite kind.
“Cats are like Baptists. You know they raise hell, you just cant catch em at it!”
Love Jim Stafford and thats some beautiful picking!
For sure. I want to say “Welcome to the REST of that thing we call, culture”.
BTW-Listening to Clark’s version of “Once upon a time” always makes me cry.
I’m sure he was but he was pretty rough on musicians who couldn’t keep up.
I enjoy the “reaction videos” too. Seeing a younger generation explore music history is eye opening for them. Much of what they’re fed today is purely manufactured garbage, crap written by teams of ‘music writers’ to be ‘sung’ by people that can’t sing or play instruments - it isn’t real talent.
Black men that have been brought up on rap & hip-hop see actual talent, where people wrote amazing songs with harmony, melody, meaningful lyrics, and could also play actual instruments. It blows their minds.
Remove singing, harmony, melody, and instruments - what are you left with? Rap...yet many think rappers are ‘super talented’ because that is what they’re told. No wonder so many believe they can become rappers and become rich. Fools gold.
For later.

Alcohol made him a miserable person.

Excellent post. Should also listen to him sing “Yesterday When I Was Young” and really listen to the message in the song. Awesome post. Like.
I saw Roy in concert in the late ‘90s. The man put on the best show I’ve ever seen. By that stage of his career he could have just mailed it in, but he absolutely killed it.
He also deftly stepped into the background and let every member of his band have their spotlight for a song or two. Roy was all class.
Didn’t he write the Last of the Summer Wine series
Dang! That sounds @ 6:10 for several seconds was almost like another instrument. That boy could make that guitar wail - thanks for the link!
Anyone who can sit down and trade licks with Joe Pass is in rare company indeed.

His viewers are being exposed to some truly great music that the probably otherwise would never hear. I'm all for it.
Roy Clark was a freaking master on several instruments.
As much as I hate Neil Young’s politics and persona, Old King reminds me of old time country.
