I Saw Mommy is ill-advised but not terrible. I think many of the haters don’t get that it’s not Santa, it’s DADDY. As opposed to Santa Baby, which is less clear that it’s her hubby and not a sugar-Daddy. Sounds MORE like a streetwalker song when you pay more attention to it.
Santa Baby makes me cringe.

Same here. She stole the title and idea for the song from Vince Vance (Andy Stone) and the Valiant’s song, “All I Want for Christmas Is You” which was released five years before Carey’s song.

Used to work the graveyard shift at Safeway. They had their own satellite music, and it repeated every hour. After hearing Don Ho and Tiny Bubbles 8 times, I wanted to blow up the satellite dish. When the Walkman was invented, we all had a great reprieve. Merry Christmas!
