“the guy who was outside actively shooting when they pulled up”
The story doesn’t say he was actively shooting when the police arrived. The story says he had fired two shots BEFORE the police arrived. And since he had only fired two shots, he must NOT have been actively shooting when the police were present. Which is why I say unless he did something stupid like point his rifle at the police, they had no justification for just shooting him on sight.
I was surprised this was from the UK Daily Mail. The sentence is incomprehensible.
Shoot first, ask questions later is protecting who's life?
Says, “Drop the gun” almost as soon as he starts shooting him. This cop should be locked away a long, long time.
What the Hell is wrong with police these days? Shooting without any idea what is going on. We almost need to take away their guns at this point.
Whatever. This hindu guy was an idiot and was cultiurally incompetent. He was torching off AR-15 shots at nobody when the cops were there. So you get some blue on blue. When you’re a cop and someone is standing there in the dark lighting you up with an AR-15, you don’t start verbally challenging them.
Sad for him, but that was poor judgement on his part.
Gary Larson has a warped sense of humor!....................
“Police arrived on the scene just five minutes later, moments after Moonesinghe fired two shots into his own living room”
Make that about 2 seconds after he fired shots from behind cover and then stepped out. Just one of those things. Sometimes it’s just not your day.
“It’s that kind of bigoted BS that gives conservatives a bad name.”
FR Concern troll/Karen chimes in
“Moonesinghe had an AR in his hands but did not point it at the cops. He came around a corner with his AR at low ready and the cops opened fire immediately.”
It was dark and he came around that corner about 2 seconds after firing those shots. It wasn’t like he was wandering around just holding a rifle quietly. It’s silly to think that torching off an AR in a residential neighborhood at night won’t amp up cops 30 feet away.
And the hindu guy was also screwing up. He had no target to shoot at, but starts laying down a base of fire. Moronic.
That one just popped into my mind when i read this.
Seems to be happening a lot though
What a beautiful, clear video. Usually these are grainy. Feel bad for the poor judgement of the businessman, who was walking around with his AR, even if not pointing at the cops, no way for the cops to know who he was. Also, the cops seem to shoot first and ask later. I agree with you, poor judgement all around.
typical Daily Mail
Make sensationalist headlines first, report facts later (or never).
These mix-ups are very sad. I wish the cop would’ve waited a moment for the man to follow his orders.
On the other hand, the man was standing outside the house and shooting into it. For all the cop knew, the man could’ve been shooting someone who lived there.
On camera, the man is talking to someone that he believes he is shooting, but no intruder was found.
I never said that being killed by a cop was the only way cops can be threatening. There are many, many more.
Nothing remotely like a summary execution for carry a gun happened. And no, when someone is firing shots in a dark yard with an AR, your response two seconds later is most assuredly NOT to verbally challenge them, unless -maybe- you have some incredibly good cover, which the cops didn’t.
“it’s best to not have it on us when the police arrive”
Key point in this case.
It’s generally not a good idea to have a firearm in your hands when police arrive or are around.
If I may rephrase what I think you are saying:
In left leaning Austin, the Democrat controlled mercenaries (police) executed a man because he was carrying a rifle.
Because that is what we just witnessed here.
Because his ethnicity is probably the cause of his cultural incompetence. In most of Texas you don’t sneak around your yard firing shots into your house in the presence of cops.
I think his foreign roots are a factor here.
And by the way, what the hell was he even shooting at? Nobody was in his house as it turns out.
