That’s the thing-the cops probably didn’t know the details, only that there was some kind of home invasion, and as they drive up, imagine you are the cops driving the two patrol cars.
As the first car arrives on the scene, you know the cop inside is rubbernecking over the scene, giving it a lookover, and in full view (the other images of the house from the street indicate the first cop car almost certainly saw the guy fire the first shot) you see a person firing a shot into the house. You pull past the next building so you have cover and stop, while talking to the cop in the car behind you.
FIRST COP: Okay, there is a guy firing a weapon into the house!
SECOND COP: Yeah, Okay I...crap! He just fired again!
This guy was just setting himself up to get shot. Watching how he handled the weapon, and is approach to this, I think he had seen more action movies and fewer self-defense classes. Some people just shouldn’t have guns. And most of those seem to be Leftists.
Yes. That is just common sense. I remember a line I read in a novel, more than 30 years ago:
Protagonist to guy who has just made a righteous shooting in a hotel lobby: "You might want to put that away."
Shooter: "I got a permit for it!"
Protagonist: "Yes, but if the cops find you standing over a corpse, waiving a pistol, when they arrive, the may shoot first and ask to see your permit later."
Well yea, since the gun is pointed into the home and not at the cop.......
99% of the time someone firing into a dwelling from the outside is the hostile. And how would the cops know there wasn’t the homeowner inside getting shot? (instead of some ignorant person firing blindly into an empty house that was his own)
Apparently, the cop who shot did yell out a warning but fired simultaneously.
If you watch that video, it is clear that guy who got killed had no idea what he was supposed to do with that weapon.
Not in modern Amerika. Cops can kill you with impunity for any reason at all. You, on the other hand have to have almost Godlike command of every single possible aspect of a situation, or they'll arrest you for defending yourself.
So are you and on the wrong side of the argument..........Yet another trash talking tough guy hiding behind his computer.........
I have no problem with that assessment, trigger happy cop that should be held accountable.
He’s a coward?
Well, you are a doo-doo head.
Now give him a hug and tell him you were wrong.
This happened near Austin, TX if my memory serves me correctly.
There is zero doubt they will be punished, because that is what happens in places like that.
And the crime rate in places like Austin will change accordingly.
5.56 would tumble, if not fragment, after hitting drywall. Between that and going through insulation and siding, it would be pretty tame. Interior walls might be a problem. Did he shoot through glass. first?
Not my experience at all. I’ve shot through multiple interior walls with 5.56 and seen it happen a lot. Exterior walls cinder or mud bricks, which always stopped 5.56 to my recollection. I’ve seen 5.56 fly through both car doors. 5.56 is a weird animal. Sometimes yawls and frags sometimes zips, depending on several factors. Suffice it to say, blasting away into your own hole from your porch especially with no identified threat isn’t a brilliant idea.
I really have no idea what was going through this guys head. Was it ever established that there was an intruder? Why leave the house?
I believe there was not an intruder. I think he was coming home so maybe the AR was his truck gun? I may be mistaken there. 100% in a home invasion scenario you must see what you’re shooting so you don’t kill your fam or the neighbor’s kid, etc. Dude may have been mental? I don’t fault the cop, his decision window was tiny and what he rolled up and saw looked real bad. Sometimes the situations just suck. After Uvalde (which isn’t but several hours from Austin) the well-trained police (which APD is) aren’t going to wait for innocents to get whacked.

Rajan Moonesinghe case: Austin police officer indicted
8 days ago — Officer Daniel Sanchez has been charged with deadly conduct in connection with the death of Rajan Moonesinghe in Austin in November 2022.
Did the FBI get involved in this case, by any chance?
AUSTIN, Texas - Family members of an Austin man who was shot and killed by an Austin police officer testified against Senate Bill 2209 Monday, April 3. The bill would place restrictions on civilian oversight powers for firefighters and police officers....
Involved with a group called Equity Action.
The victim didn’t call 911, a neighbor’s security guard did. Based on several accounts the victim didn’t know the police were around until the “Drop the gun”/bang.
