Understandable if you get your water from the snow pack in the mountains or farm winter wheat, or run a ski resort!
Agreed. Snow is an important an element as anything else to many!
I sold Christmas Trees for many years (10!) and on years when we had little snow, sales would be down because people would go to the ‘Cut Your Own’ farms and shop there, instead of with me.
Luckily, we had more than enough snow most years, but I didn’t mind sharing the bounty with the local tree farmers. :)
I seem tall because I talk a lot; mainly I’m more like a yappy little lap dog, LOL!
And, yes, the Rudolph show is exactly why I call him ‘Bumble.’ He does have all of his teeth still, though. ;)
Figured he did! And we ladies are verbally gifted, no doubt about it.
Bright side for me. Our wood stove has the 1/4" steel plate top and the front lower section is almost 2 foot square. I'll be cooking meals on the wood stove and save some electricity. Bacon in the 12" cast iron skillet comes out so nice because the skillet gets heated so evenly.
I know someone looking for seeds - specifically Costa Rican Panameno Pepper. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

The folks have a glass top electric range/stove. Mom got it because she thought it would be easier to clean - I hate it. All the skillets she/we have, except for my cast iron ones, have ‘warped’ and are uneven, so for example, the butter runs to one side. It’s totally annoying & why I have my cast iron skillet out most of the time .... I also do not use pans with a non-stick surface, except for ceramic coated. I have two ceramic coated sauce pans & a small ceramic coated skillet.
We have plenty of wood, but no wood stove. The way things are going, I would like to have one - the fireplace hearth is large enough to accommodate one, I think. Since it’s not my house, there’s nothing I can do about it right now. The fireplace has glass doors so we can have a fire and it warms the room right around that area ... better than nothing.
When I do move (and I will when the folks are gone), the goal is to have a small, functional house - a wood stove that can heat a good part, if not all of it, is part of the plan. My niece and her husband bought/moved to a ‘farmette’ January before last. It has a half basement that opens up to a patio. In that space is a fairly large wood stove and it’s configured so they can attach it to their duct system and send heat from the stove into the entire house (main heat is a heat pump). I don’t think they’ve used it yet, but with the severe cold we’re supposed to get the next couple of days, I suspect they’ll be trying out that option.
Consider a pellet stove over an everyday wood burner. I’ve always found wood heat to be extremely messy.
Beau converted our fireplace (which is the only thing that heats the Family Room) to propane years ago and we’ve never looked back. Also, better insulation in the flooring in that room, and fresh birch-wood underlayment and new laminate flooring, plus two big area rugs make it really cozy in there at 68 degrees. Ceiling fans too, to move heat down or hot air up in the summer.
I understand your reasoning for a wood stove, though. :)

It hit -12 last night here in the SW corner of Wisconsin. The bad winds they predicted never hit for some reason; there’s not a single twig or branch down in the yard, and I didn’t hear any wind last night - and we have a lot of trees that make a lot of noise if it’s windy.
So, only 4” of snow, so a little drifting, but nothing I can’t handle with a shovel and Beau will use the skid steer to plow us out after the temps get above Zero again - which may be tomorrow.
All animals are safe and sound and snoozing it off. Sunny, today, but it’s still -7 at 9:30am-ish. Bird feeders are at capacity, for sure!

Wind is howling here. Took truck & 3 gas cans to fill them up. Cans were sitting on the tailgate and a gust of wind grabbed one of the caps/funnels and blew it away. I found one part down at the end of the gas pumps, another part at the end of the gas pumps next to me and someone had run over it, and the third part out where cars were driving. I managed to put it all together, even with the smooshed part, so the can won’t leak on the way home.
In the meanwhile, I dropped my cell phone and it looked okay when I picked it up, but the screen is cracked down in one corner which is a bummer - it still seems to be working fine.
Praying the power stays on, but I realistically expect to lose it. It was 30° a half hour ago, now down to 23° so temp dropping dramatically. I did get a heat light on in the well house this morning.
The wind is starting in earnest here, now. Ugh. All animals are safe and secure.
