For most people snow is welcome in the holiday season from December 15 to January 5th (with occasional snows as needed to protect the Winter Wheat crop!

(Faced with concern at climate change) "The Finnish academic Panu Pihkala...(snip)... developed a detailed vocabulary of climate emotions as specific as “winter grief,” mourning the loss of traditional winters, and “snow anxiety,” related to uncertainty about whether it will snow."

Lumiahdistus: Snow Anxiety
Talvisuru: Winter Grief
Talvi-ilo: Winter Joy
Lumihelpotus; Snow Relief
Lumikaipaus / Lumikaipuu: Longing for Snow

Understandable if you get your water from the snow pack in the mountains or farm winter wheat, or run a ski resort!

Agreed. Snow is an important an element as anything else to many!

I sold Christmas Trees for many years (10!) and on years when we had little snow, sales would be down because people would go to the ‘Cut Your Own’ farms and shop there, instead of with me.

Luckily, we had more than enough snow most years, but I didn’t mind sharing the bounty with the local tree farmers. :)
