Baker Mayfield Leads Los Angeles Rams To Victory In Incredible Comeback After Joining Team Only Two Days Before

Los Angeles Rams quarterback Baker Mayfield pulled off one of the most improbable victories of his career Thursday night against the Las Vegas Raiders.

Mayfield, who was signed to the Rams less than three days ago, led Los Angeles to an incredible win after enduring a 13-point fourth quarter deficit. He led the Rams on a 98-yard drive that was capped off on a 23-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Van Jefferson with only 10 seconds left to win the game. The win was very impressive since Mayfield was studying the Rams’ playbook on his flight into town.

Fellow Rams quarterback John Wolford started the game, but head coach Sean McVay put in Mayfield in the second series. Mayfield completed a 21-yard pass on his first snap.

Mayfield celebrated the go-ahead touchdown by headbutting his teammate, Robert Rochell, without his helmet on.

Mayfield was also seen headbutting other teammates following his touchdown pass.

Earlier in the season, he did the same thing while playing for the Carolina Panthers.

Mayfield ought to be careful or else he’ll accidentally wind up in concussion protocol. I can understand the headbutting if he were wearing his helmet but to do it without one on is a risky move.

With that said, what a performance by the former number one overall pick on a short week. It was a truly gutsy performance.

“Thursday Night Football” commentators Kirk Herbstreit and Al Michaels marveled at Mayfield and the Rams’ comeback, contending that they have never seen or heard of any quarterback leading a team to a comeback after only being on the team for such a short time.

The Raiders tied an NFL record for blowing 13+ point leads in four games in a season.

Raiders just stood around, committed penalties, and let the Rams march down the field.

Reminds me of when Tim Tebow did this over and over.

I have been a fan of Baker’s since his Oklahoma University days - he LOVES football and makes it entertaining! He reminds me of Bret Favre, but is a better runner.

But . . but he wasn’t good enough to be the Panthers QB OR the back-up. Hmmmm.

Hubby and I flip a coin when we don’t have a dog in the fight. Came up tails so we got the raiders. I disregarded the coin and cheered for the rams anyway cause I like Baker. What a game!

1 game, especially 1 game against an opponent that kinda sucks and has blown 3 other 13 point leads this season, does not a career make. I like Mayfield, he’s fun, he’s cool. But he’s not consistent.

True, he didn’t beat the Raiders. The Raiders beat the Raiders. But it’s a feel good story to some.

It is. Mayfield is definitely a guy worth rooting for. But damn Raiders.

Two grand juries, no indictments. FWIW.

No, he is not a guy worth rooting for. He often plays the victim and repeatedly committed classless acts while a college quarterback. He was the first pick in the NFL draft, not lived up to the hype and already been dropped by two teams in his young career.

It was one for the ages ... and Baker, as a Christian, knelt at the bench and prayed after the victory. But the enemdia will not show you that if they can help it.

Thanks be to God for MEN like Baker Mayfield.

As a Browns fan, I’m happy for Baker. The issues in Cleveland weren’t all his fault. The coach kept running him out last season when Baker was obviously too hurt to play effectively.

I’ll bet the game last night got higher ratings in Cleveland than LA.

I love Baker. With that said, our former Boys Club football coach would head butt the players with his bare forehead while making a point, with our helmets in place. We kids NEVER were afraid of the players from Seattle or Tacoma, our Coach scared us..lol. Seriously though, we were 14-16 year old kids, and the big n*gs from the big city were 6 foot wow, and 260. I think they were just people who wanted to play and never went to school, but WTH? They would beat us almost every time, but Coach also had the opposing Coach scared of him, so he would call off the first string, and hold them back from purposely hurting us. It was exactly like Freshman players vs College.

He hasn’t had a chance. With the Rams he has serious talent around him, and doesn’t need to be a superstar. He is just not what people want anymore, a point guard that goes here and there. He would fit right in, in the 1960’s and would be a 12 year player or more.
