Actress Sally Field called the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization decision “cruel” and “uncivilized” during an appearance on ABC’s “The View” on Tuesday.
Co-host Joy Behar noted part of Field’s memoir, and said, “You had to go to Tijuana to get a secret abortion before it was legal.” She asked Fields what she made of the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade.
“Yikes. I think it’s tragic. I think it’s criminal. I think it’s cruel. I think it’s uncivilized. I think you’re not looking at the ramifications of any of it, not only what’s happening to young women but what will happen with the children that are born that are not wanted. We already have a terrible problem with feeding children, with feeding people, with taking care of them, and we have nothing to help those children once they’re born. Then what?” Field said.
She added, “Where’s the services?” Behar said, “They drop you like a hot potato.” […]
“They just care about conception to birth, and after that they don’t give a crap,” Fields claimed.

What about the whole host of Public Assistance programs that we have for poor women who cannot afford to take care of their babies? Or does that not count?
I’ve heard this argument before that people who oppose abortion allegedly do not give a damn about the babies after they are born. That seems to be part of the liberal theology on the subject of abortion.
The nuances of the decision from the Supreme Court are lost on many of these people. So for us to say that abortion remains legal in many states is simply beyond the comprehension of these people.

Also, couples wanting to adopt newborns, even severely afflicted ones, are on waiting lists for months and years on end. So Sally, if you want to kill your offspring for your own convenience, just own up to it, but spare us the bullshit excuses.

Iv’e never known Planned Parenthood or any other abortion clinics to assist moms an uex
xpected pregnancy / birth. Many prolife crisis pregnancy centers do provide a bunch of services like education for jobs, medical referrals, adoption agenct referrals, safe homes, baby formula and infant cereal,cribs, car seats, carriages, diapers, maternity clothes and comforts, newborn layetts, children’s clothing from newborn to 5 years. My center provided all but job education. Other centers provide training for pregnant moms to learn infant care, complete with special dolls that cry until properly dealt with.
Some prolife centers don’t offer as much, some offer more. Most all of them offer free pregnancy tests and crisis peer counseling. Sometimes they also help suicidal and or battered women, post abortive women, raped women. If a pregnant girl is truly hellbent on an abortion, a center volunteer will sometimes accompany her so that she will have someone to help pick up the broken pieces after the procedure.
So when these snotty know- it-all know nothings like Bahar and sympathetic guests criticize prolife services, it only reveals the fact that they know so damn little. They are NOT doing or saying anything useful to a hurting, confused pregnant woman/girl, and certainly aren’t in the business of saving lives.

Great points. Also, Planned Parenthood knowingly is in it for the money, and gets government help to do so. Crisis Pregnancy centers rely on the kindness of donations.
It’s all such a crock.

I was waiting for Sally Fields to weigh in on this. She doesn’t understand the first thing about the Constitution and fits in just fine with the “intellectuals” on the View.
