A few years ago a judge near here heard a case of a homeless guy who got arrested for living under a bridge over the river and killing, cleaning, plucking and roasting 2-3 city pigeons on a spit over an open fire.
The judge asked the prosecutor if the city was experiencing a shortage of pigeons. The answer was no. The judge then asked if a fire built on the banks of a river posed much of a threat. Again, the answer was no.
Case dismissed on the condition that the accused at least check in with the local shelter

When in NY and dining on a Big Rat, one accompanies it with a Big Apple.
Bon appetit!

I am not totally averse to eating a rat, if I was starving.

“They eat guinea pigs?....................”
Lol, yes, very popular staple food. And it is excellent too. You can buy it in the freezer section here in certain states where PETA and Vegans don’t rule over government.

You can’t even get Prime Manhattan Rat at Peter Lugar’s.

Pesto?! Ugh.
Years ago, I had a first date with a girl from Brooklyn. We were going to leave the city and have a little picnic. She packed only Pesto and pasta. Yuck!
When I lived in Chicago, I had a job at a pizza place where the two most popular pizzas were stuffed with spinach and stuffed with pesto. Double ugh.
God made tomato sauce for a reason. Use it. Basil is best as a minor supporting character.

Yes, they are Cuy.That's still a Rodent, but as I have eaten Squirrel many times which is also a rodent, and would not hesitate to do it again, I can't condemn it, even on the street rotisserie.
