Kirstie Alley, a two-time Emmy-winning actor who rose to fame with her role as Rebecca Howe in the NBC comedy series “Cheers,” has died after a battle with cancer. She was 71.

I’ve heard of her but never seen her, but I’m 71, so this hits home.

Sorry to hear this. I remember her from one of the Star Trek movie as Lt. Saavik - when she was young, trim and beautiful:
Later, she had a lot of trouble with her weight - going up and down by tremendous amounts, I remember when she was the spokeswoman for Jenny Craig- they had to fire her for re-gaining all of her weight.
