Broccoli and raspberries could give you COVID, health experts warn after learning that virus can live on popular foods for as long as a week

roccoli and raspberries could give you COVID, the Food Standards Agency (FSA) has warned.

Health experts revealed the virus that causes Covid-19 can live on some ready-to-eat groceries for days.

The tests were carried out for the FSA in a laboratory and found coronavirus lived longer on foods with uneven surfaces, such as broccoli and raspberries.

This was in comparison to smooth-skinned produce such as apples.

But the scientists have advised the risk to consumers remains very low.

Laboratory tests saw the SARS-CoV-2 virus smeared on packaging and food, including fruit and bottled drinks, that people might put in their mouth without cooking or washing.

From 2019...

This one's not fearporn, but indicative of the degree of bioweaponization to which the Chinese hardened this chimera's outer shell by Fauxi-funded gain-of-function testing, precisely to survive on surfaces for up to a week.

When are we going to start talking about China committing a global Act of War by intentionally releasing their bioweapon? When?

Virus load is the key. Most fruits don't have the CoV2 virus 'smeared' on them - this article's a little far out... If you're worried wash berries in a bowl with a little baking soda, rinse and don't eat them for a few hours. That's probable not necessary but if concerned...

Just expose all of the surface to ultraviolet light for a few seconds.

long before Covid I paid close attention to cleaning food items. All kinds of germs on them. One time I saw my mother unwrap some kind of plastic container and immediately use it to store food. I dont remember if I said anything but I sure thought it.

Yeah, I am not a camping type person.

All viruses can live outside the body for short periods of time. So use the usual precautions ...

oh noes- not the sniffles for a few days-! Quick liberals, booster up lol

I had Omicron earlier this year. Currently dealing with a head cold. All in all, I'd rather have the omicron again. I got a lingering cough from that, but never did have a stuffed up sinus problem. I hate stuffed up sinuses. I did have long-term smell/taste issues, but those have long since cleared. But omicron was less impactful than the flu or this cold.

That’s my guess: broccoli and raspberries must be more effective against “Covid” than most had realized.

Based on the contents of some of the refrigerators I have seen, having the COVID virus on any of it would seem to be a very minor concern.

i got omicron too- it was kinda rough, but not as bad as soem flues I’ve had in the past- had a couple of respiratory ones that really knocked the stuffings out of me- ended up in hospital with difficulties breathing- they put me on a machine pumping meds into lungs- and after awhile i was breathing better- then another i coughed so hard i had something pop around my rib area- felt liek a broken rib, but i think i just strained something coughing so hard- that was a whopper of a flue too-

Well the CDC also says it can live up to 2 weeks on smooth surfaces, so go figure

So they have no test to detect Covid-19 as the PCR test doesn’t but the are trying to convince people it’s lives on the broccoli.

Fake and gay propaganda

Insane.

Chicom stuff. Paranoia hysteria irrationality.

Any virus could “live” on produce and there are sop to keep produce uncontaminated as possible.

After purchase we wash it and cook it which kills any flu or Covid or cold virus.

"All viruses can live outside the body for short periods of time. So use the usual precautions ..."

True but that average is majority -24 hours.

The Chinese absolutely engineered this to be environmentally-hardy, and got their money's worth with every variant successively more hardy, which is the reverse of every prior pandemic.

"The researchers found that on both plastic and skin, the Alpha, Beta, Delta, and Omicron variants all survived twice as long as the Wuhan, and remained infectious for more than 16 hours on skin.

Omicron in particular was the most stable of the variants studied. On a plastic surface, it survived for as long as 193.5 hours. (Ed. note: That is +8 DAYS).

The next highest was the Alpha variant at 191.3 hours, while the Wuhan strain lasted just 56 hours.

On skin, Omicron lasted 21.1 hours, while Alpha survived for 19.6 hours and the Wuhan strain for 8.6 hours.

Omicron also appeared to be slightly more resistant to alcohol-based disinfectant than the other variants in vitro (in a test tube or culture dish), however a 40 percent ethanol disinfectant was capable of completely inactivating it within 15 seconds. Other variants needed only 35 percent ethanol disinfectant to achieve the same inactivation time.

"This study showed that the Omicron variant also has the highest environmental stability among VOCs [variants of concern], which suggests that this high stability might also be one of the factors that have allowed the Omicron variant to replace the Delta variant and spread rapidly," the study concluded."
