I cannot believe what Clay Travis said today on the EIB station. "TRUMP SHOULD AGREE TO SUPPORT THE TICKET IF HE LOSES THE PRIMARY"

Clay Travis said today he thought Trump should agree to support the nominee, if he(Trump) did not win the nomination.
I think that is an incredibly naive position. Does anyone think the RNC is trustworthy? Would anyone trust Mitch McConnell to be honest and fair? The only way Trump will have any leverage at all is to not to promise to support the ticket if he is not treated fairly. The GOPe Republican Establishment might joins forces with the Democrats to eliminate Trump, or clandestinely work against Trump in the primary. Why do they call it the Uniparty?

Agree 100%. If GOP tries to cheat Trump in the primaries with the democrat’s cheat machine, Trump should absolutely run third party. The GOP is not a real party anyway. Both parties are fake. They take orders from America’s real rulers and it ain’t us.
That's why they are called the uniparty!

There are some people who are happy to have a Democrat president and Congress, if the Republican candidates are not conservative enough to suit them. I see this expressed time and time again on this site.

Not one other candidate will be asked that question, unless it’s in
a group with Trump in it. Six years later and the same horse stuff
questions. (Topics)

.... I remember the old saying that my father taught me ..... "A nation divided cannot stand." .... I am left wondering if the same goes for the Republican Party.

Did you read my original comments? In 2015, the Bush/Romney/McCain/Ryano wing of the Republican party were trying to unite against Trump, or seemed to be doing that. Not fair. They should all support their candidate of choice, and not work against the leader. Trump must demand to be treated fairly.

I agree with him. What’s he going to run third party and guarantee a Dem?

I have never been at all impressed with Clay Travis. He has always struck me as a lightweight, undeserving to be in the same time slot as El Rushbo (Rest his soul).

I don’t know about Trump, but I can assure you that I will never support a Democratic candidate - ever. After the past six years I consider them all as “enemies of the state!!!”

If the Republican establishment is honest and straightforward, then why would Trump not support the nominee? What is the purpose of this question?

I could not believe Clay Travis would say this without recalling the 2015 shenanigans of the Republican establishment. Maybe he was not paying attention then. He seems like a lightweight if he does not read between the lines.

Listening to his political analysis, one would certainly conclude he has a lack of intellectual mass.

The only way Trump will have any leverage at all is to not to promise to support the ticket if he is not treated fairly. What Trump needs is primary voter support. He's not going to get that by being threatening. Nobody wants to be strongarmed to vote for a candidate.
Each candidate (and each voter) should resolve to support the party nom, otherwise we'll splinter, the Dems win and ...
A third party candidate would outdo Perot in handing the party to the Dems. (My biggest worry about that is Willard, Cheney, and a few other RINOs.)

We have basically a two party system. Other groups try to
become an influence but never have the necessary numbers &
dollars to make any real changes. Some minor ones maybe.

Agreed. And Trump threatened no one. We know the Republican establishment will run a fair primary, right? Why would anyone even ask this question?
To: GSWarrior
If Trump does well enough in the primaries to win the nomination, the party should unite behind him--but we know that the NeverTrumpers of 2016 and 2020 won't. I'm afraid that if Trump doesn't win the nomination, he will refuse to accept that it happened legitimately, and either sit out the election or run as a third-party candidate (like Teddy Roosevelt in 1912), in either case guaranteeing a Democrat victory.
The Republican Party has some people who could be a strong nominee in 2024 or 2028--but anyone who runs against Trump in 2024 may be so battered that he is not a viable candidate for a later election.
