I think the German Shepherd just saw the kid as a sheep he was supposed to protect from the “wolf”.
ROTFL, I have been thinking about getting that. The last time I gave her a bath I had to put those barbed hair gatherers that look like a covid virus in the drain to catch the hair and not stop up the tub. The Bounce would work great to catch the hair that makes it to the dryer.

Duke, our German Shepherd, would bark and growl and try to attack any coyote that came near our yard, even though he would probably have been killed if the coyote got into the yard and they got into a fight. But he was very friendly and protective of our cats, even licking a wound on the head of our big boy kitty Blanco, which later turned out to be cancer and took his life.
We have a Shiatzus/Lhasa Apso mix that is a walking hairball...........

Not a Pit Bull, for a change.

Be careful. We had a wonderful Shepard rescue that eventually had to be put down. We saw a bonded pair of Shepards available for adoption. They seemed fine at first but after less than a week with us (a year ago today) the male attacked my wife, completely unprovoked and nearly tore her arm off. It took all I had to pull him off her and the two dogs had to be destroyed. My wife is still in recovery following several operations.
Dogs like Shepards are wonderful but some are inbred, as were these two.
When I was a kid, my pet Mastiff routinely did things like this. Delivery drivers never got out of their trucks without one of us there, and people always reported that she would NOT let them out of their cars if we were not home.
My two Mountain Feists are single coated and barely shed but they hate the cold. Below 40, they are in the house using pee pads. This girl sheds like a Huskey or a Malamute. I’ve never seen anything like it!
I remember a pair of Irish Setters some friends of my parents had. I think yhey got thrm as a fashion statement. They were boisterous, and destroyed their yard. They have a pretty small cranium...thatâs all Iâll say. Never hsd sny use for them or spaniels as housepets. If youâre going to work them at what they’re bred for, they might be alright.
Color me dubious about a “German” German Shephard named “Tank”. I would suspect der Panzer, or das Becken or maybe Panzerkraft Hund. Nicknamed, “Panzi” as in, Komm Schon, Panzi, guter Junge!
Even in Golden Retrievers, which I have had a couple dozen over the decades, the darker colors have more Irish Setter in them and more of the Setter personality. Our groomer has mentioned this.

Sorry, but the attacker looks more German Shepherd than the defender.
Never known a GS to be so purely yellow/white like a yellow lab. No black body color prominent at all. The closest to it, Belgian Malinois, still should not be that yellow and bulky, esp. the face looks too blocky for either breed.
I call both of them GS mixes at best.
About 17 years ago we had a female Irish Setter for the family dog. My son who was about nine at the time was opening the front door to go out on the porch and holler for the dog to come inside for the night. We had an invisible barrier and she ran in the yard and played during the day when we were gone.
When he opened that door the setter came out of no where and knocked him back towards the door and a 400-500lbs black bear emerged from the wood line heading for our porch. My son came in screaming a bear is going to kill Katie a bears going to kill Katie! I went to the door along with my wife and sure enough Katie and the bear had squared up about ten feet apart and both were not yielding any ground and both growling and going crazy, the bear roaring and popping its teeth, Katie was in full attack mode.
I told my wife, hand me the shotgun in the front closet and she said what are you going to do! I said when I shoot any guns Katie likes to kennel up, I’m going to fire into the ground, if she runs up on the porch grab her and both of you get inside. I fired and sure enough Katie broke and ran for the porch and my wife grabbed her collar and they went inside and the bear stopped and looked at me. I racked another round in the chamber and fired again into the ground and he slowly turned and ambled off into the woods. Katie lived 12 years and was a good protector of our family.
Hard to judge from the photos but I think the dog is a German shepherd mix. He doesn’t have the big, tall ears typical of pure German shepherds and looks too big for being one year old.
The attacking dog appears to be a Doberman or Labrador retriever mix but once again hard to be sure.
Why mention Pit Bull types?
Canât tell that any of them looked like that.
Apparently the kid had a 2nd dog but he goes by briefly so canât really tell his type.
