Study: Popular dietary supplement causes cancer risk, brain metastasis (Nicotinamide riboside and triple negative breast cancer)
Medical Xpress / University of Missouri / Biosensors and Bioelectronics ^ | Nov. 11, 2022 | Eric Stann / Tamara Maric et al

While previous studies have linked commercial dietary supplements like nicotinamide riboside (NR), a form of vitamin B3, to benefits related to cardiovascular, metabolic and neurological health, new research has found NR could actually increase the risk of serious disease, including developing cancer.

The team led by Elena Goun discovered high levels of NR could not only increase someone's risk of developing triple-negative breast cancer, but also could cause the cancer to metastasize or spread to the brain. Once the cancer reaches the brain, the results are deadly because no viable treatment options exist at this time, said Goun, who is the corresponding author on the study.

"Some people take them [vitamins and supplements] because they automatically assume that vitamins and supplements only have positive health benefits, but very little is known about how they actually work," Goun said.

"Our work is especially important given the wide commercial availability and a large number of ongoing human clinical trials where NR is used to mitigate the side effects of cancer therapy in patients," Goun said.

"While NR is already being widely used in people and is being investigated in so many ongoing clinical trials for additional applications, much of how NR works is a black box—it's not understood," Goun said. "So that inspired us to come up with this novel imaging technique based on ultrasensitive bioluminescent imaging that allows quantification of NR levels in real time in a non-invasive manner. The presence of NR is shown with light, and the brighter the light is, the more NR is present."

"Not all cancers are the same in every person, especially from the standpoint of metabolic signatures," Goun said. "Often times cancers can even change their metabolism before or after chemotherapy."

Definitely stop taking nicotinamide riboside if you have a chance of having breast cancer.

I and my wife take this, but I will stop it for her, for now.

It has been shown to help with liver-related issues, and definitely hasn’t been found to increase cancer, before now.

The study is behind a paywall, so I can pass on just how much of an increase in triple-negative breast cancer and its metastasis it causes. I will say the write up appears to be wrong in stating this study, only done on triple-negative breast cancer, cannot legitimately say it “could actually increase the risk of serious disease, including developing cancer,” when it only found this was a concern with a rarer form of breast cancer, and nothing else.

Oops. They “automatically assume” this because “experts” have sold them on it.

Beware of “experts”.

I don’t take NR, I take IP6, which stops cancer from spreading. The only “drawback” to IP6 is lack of profits for Big Pharma.

I take it, and it has made me feel better in ways I did not know I had a problem with (mood). I feel less worried and happier. I did not know I was unhappy, but the difference is amazing. I feel more optimistic and have more energy. I heard there was a chance it could make cancer progress faster months ago.

actually, I do not take this, but NAD+, which has helped me a lot.

It might not cause cancer. It may be something thats around cancer as the cancer cells which do not work properly, may not have the ability to regulate how much they take in.

They admit in the paper they don’t know how this works.

Remember every Fridiot who was pro mrna vax saying correlation doesn’t mean causation...well let’s apply that here, given we do know the positive benefits of NR before chu king it under the bus, like the very same people did to Ivermectin...

The paper in question isn't fully available without subscription that requires proof of a degree and money. Notice the link at the top of the page had no way to find this report. The links in the article go to a menu page of other articles.

Niacin is far better to take then Nicotinamide both called Vitamin B3. I suspect shenanigans with this report as they need to keep details away from the public. They would love to regulate Vitamin B3.

I take NR. about 500 mg

It improves my mood.

I also take enduracin which is an extended release form of niacin.

It mentions NAD+.
This is something I am just starting to look at based on the Goldilocks principle. LhA b and ldh A are heavily researched in cancer studies because cancer feeds on it.

There are ways to try to restore balance. If you are low in ldh b one study says you can restore balance with Nad +. You need an LDH isoenzyme test to see the ratios.

My DNA says I am at high risk for triple negative breast cancer . I also have a genetic defect concerning LDh which might play into it.

I have never heard of NR but I guess I will be skipping it.

There is a lot of experimentation you have to do in figuring out what works. You might need NAD+. Another person might need NADPH. If you didn’t take one but took the other it might make you feel worse

DNA plays such a huge role and your local Dr will be clueless on a lot of it.

So NMN and NR have been slammed this week. I believe I have seen mention that one or the other(or both) can feed cancers, as this study suggests for breast cancers. Such promise...

That is, I cannot find an NMR problem, save for the regulatory flag issued.

Only NR is a real problem.
