Posted on 11/10/2022 2:57:06 PM PST by Words Matter

With Conservatives point finger at Trump after GOP’s underwhelming election results: 'He's never been weaker'
Many conservatives say Tuesday's election results show it's 'time to move on' from Trump. (Fox News'', November 9, 2022), as well as the Wall Street Journal - what do Freepers think?

Will Ron Desantis need his megadonors to finance his run for President?

Will they give him millions with NO STRINGS ATTACHED?

Will Ron Desantis agree to serve four years as President without drawing any salary as Trump did?

Desantis is NOT Trump and NEVER WILL BE.

Trump draws thousands at every visit. They wait for hours and in long lines. Ron Desantis WILL NEVER HAVE THAT LEVEL OF SUPPORT.

If a person would have taken the credit for a magnificent victory, then they deserve the blame for a terrible loss.

To my mind, anyway, *NO ONE* gets to take the position that they are responsible for an event if it is a triumph, but *not* responsible if the outcome is bad.

So my question: if this election and been an absolute route, if we’d taken 5 more Senate seats and every closely fought house race- would you credit Trump? If so, you ought to blame him.

You don’t get to call it a fair contest if you win but rigged if you lose; you don’t get to take credit if you win and avoid blame if you fail.

I will forever be grateful to Donald Trump for keeping Hillary Clinton out of the White House but 2016 was a lifetime ago.

Since then, he's essentially lost three elections: 2018, 2020, and now 2022.

We need to win in '24 and this will not happen with Trump at the helm. Sure, he'll get the base to the polls but he won't get anyone else. You can't win elections when only the base shows up. You need to build coalitions.

DeSantis has shown he can not only win but build coalitions and get re-elected. DeSantis repeatedly demonstrates himself to be superior to Donald Trump in every measure.

It's time for Donald Trump to step aside gracefully and clear the field.

It is my opinion that Hilary would be in her second term if not for Donald Trump.
He has my support for as long as he wants it.

I heard this yesterday from a pro Trump candidate for US Congress who was being interviewed. He said that people are tired of getting ‘punched ‘all the time and they wanted someone who punches back.

Will DeSantis do that?

Despite the astonishingly misleading headline, what DeSantis actually said was the the establishment Republicans were dead wrong IN THEIR BELIEF that you needed to push for open borders and amnesty to appeal to Hispanic voters.

Trump has nothing to do with it. He’s only one guy.

Republican voters and candidates have only themselves to blame for any losses.

As for abortion, most Americans favor limitations and restrictions, but not an outright ban with no exceptions.

Donald Trump is my favorite President, even more so than Ronald Reagan.

However, I think I’m moving on from him.

I like him in the role of a clarion-calling standard bearer, and his presidency was the best I have ever seen.

I don’t like him in terms of his failure to be a team player. I’m not even sure I like him as a kingmaker. Calling out numbers to make him look good, in a severely-disappointing election shows me he doesn’t care about the boots on the ground, but only how he looks.

Reagan faced the same Establishment hate and Media mocking, but he had a great way of playful rebuttal, with a twinkle in his eye and a little smile. America loved that. All the attacks mustered against him, failed, because he was able to gently turn it around on his attacker with a witty quip or a well thought out fact.

Reagan was also the author of the phrase, the 11th commandment, which was “Thou shall not attack a fellow Republican.”

Trump, on the other hand, has a serious ego problem. He cannot resist getting into a public verbal fight with anyone who criticizes him. While this was fresh and new in 2016, and propelled him into the presidency, it doesn’t work in 2022.

Also, the way Trump fights back is not nearly as good as Reagan’s style. Trump hasn’t got the charm of Reagan, and it’s beginning to hurt our side.

It is for these reasons that I must move on from Donald Trump. Sir, thank you for your incredibly wonderful service in 2016 through 2020. You made those years prosperous and sane. But it is time to move on.

I’m likely to get a ton of flak for this post. That’s okay, I can take it.

It’s just blathering. Do the Republicans who don’t like Trump think DeSantis will be less polarizing? When the Dems are already calling him WORSE than Trump? We have weak leadership, a radical & biased media & absolutely insane Democrats who know how to cheat & ARE CHEATING. That explains everything that needs explaining.

They had an ally in Graham, who floated a well publicized “national ban on abortion” bill just a couple weeks before the election. The rats gleefully demagogued this as proof that “Republicans want to outlaw abortion nationwide. “ The idiot women and children demographics sucked it down like it was gospel.

No way abortion was that big after the Dobbs furor basically subsided, until Graham helped his rat butt buddies to revive it in flaming colors.

>>Time to move on from Trump.

I agree - and enthusiastically supported him (twice) - but he is not ever going to win again; no democrats will vote for him, and very few independents - look at PA, democrats ran a turnip and he still beat the more qualified R candidate; we need candidates that can win, and have coattails that help - that is not Trump anymore.

My interpretation of Tuesday is that President Trump may no longer be the kingmaker he has been, but it’s idiotic to blame one person for the outcome of hundreds of individual elections.

That’s on the voters (or the voting machines, ballot dumps, etc).

Trump wasn’t on the ballot.

I see this on Twitter and on here. I don’t get it. Please explain how brain damaged Fetterman, Uncle Fester, wife abuser Warnock, that idiot Patty Murray, creepy liar Chris Coons etc we’re all such accomplished candidates over the Republicans?

You do understand Libs won mostly on ballot harvesting?
