The sports world remains heartbroken over the developments with Brittney Griner.
This week, the WNBA star's appeal was rejected by a Russian court, meaning she's set to serve her entire nine-year prison sentence, barring a trade with the United States.
Life in a full-time Russian prison sounds pretty rough.
"Brittney Griner will enter a system of isolation, grueling labor and psychological torment when she is transferred to a penal colony, the successor to the infamous Russian gulag, to fulfill a nine-year sentence, former prisoners and advocates say," NBC News reported this week.
Earlier in her prison sentence, Griner was reportedly offered a basketball, so she could play on the prison's hoop.
Heartbreakingly, she rejected the offer, deciding it was too tough to play right now.

Today’s Sports world is a big cause of the demise of America. Or rather the high regard in which these low IQ morons are held by the rest of America.
That’s because they would not play the American national anthem. She hated it before, now she loves it.

It’s unclear. Just to be safe she’s being sent to a penile colony.

She won’t serve nine years. We’ll eventually trade her for some spy the Russkies want.

Brittney Griner’s jersey number was 42, ironically the age she will be when she is forced to return to America.
The entire sports world is heartbroken? Maybe the WNBA and a few whiny NBA players are heartbroken but I doubt the hockey world cares.
Nobody cares and they can’t make us care.

If the league continues to want to play it, that’s fine. It will be all season long, I’ll not be out there. I feel like more are going to probably do the same thing. I can only speak for myself.”
Hard to feel any sympathy for the BLM-loving, flag disrespecting BB player.
Most of the US dont care or even know who she is... and some of the sports world cares.
9 years seems excessive... but do the crime, do the time...
