The 1st ever Election Day Blood Moon lunar eclipse is coming on Nov. 8
This will be the fourth and final lunar eclipse that has interestingly come at half-year intervals starting from May of last year on through this year. Three of these eclipses in this series are total. One of these – the lunar eclipse of last Nov. 19 – was partial, but just barely so; all but about two percent of the moon was immersed in the Earth’s dark umbra (the darkest, innermost part of a shadow). Had last November’s eclipse registered as a total, it would have made for four totalities spanning across 2021 and 2022: a cycle known as a lunar eclipse tetrad.
The one coming our way next Tuesday morning favors the western half of North America and the Hawaiian Islands (where the moon will appear almost directly overhead at mid-eclipse). Along the Atlantic Seaboard, the moon will set while it begins to emerge from total eclipse. For central and eastern Asia, Indonesia, New Zealand and Australia, the eclipse will be happening on Tuesday evening as the moon is rising.
Yes indeed, the lunar eclipse IS in the wee hours of November 8. I actually took out my tracking mount today to re-learn its operation. It’s not a high-dollar mount, but if it can track well enough for longer exposures, I can avoid extremely high ISO images and the inherent noise that comes with that. With a long lens, the moon moves way too fast for long exposures.
I’m just hoping that the sky is clear that night - I want some good eclipse pictures. Given the timing of the event, I suspect that I’ll most likely have issues with building and such blocking my view as the moon moves out of the eclipsed status.

The HB "Hot mike" incident is of the same cloth as keeping all that incriminating evidence, including against his father, on a laptop, and then losing control of it through gross negligence. It appears that part of his personality wanted to get caught and wanted/wants to bring down his dad's kingdom. Freud would have had a field day with the Oedipal drama.
That is why they are going nuts and grabbing everyone's phones, to try and find some evidence that they can use.
I went out early one morning to see if I could see the orionids (only one) and Played the song in my head a few times. Stars and the approaching dawn. Nice!
