Please, there are Freepers up in age on this forum who will know to which hosptial to go for truly excellent healthcare in a difficult situation. My wife has a rare neurological condition for which she had neurosurgery many years ago at Vanderbilt in Nashville. Now, symptoms are recurring.
We need to know of an excellent research hospital (analagous to Vanderbilt) in Austin or Houston that can see her if things get serious (like the last time). Where can I take her in one of those two cities that would have motivated doctors (team of 12 at Vanderbilt) who can research her condition and see if she can be helped? We really need help from Freeper brothers and sisters here who seem to be about the only source of real truth any more.
OK
I go to MD Anderson and have for eight years. I don’t live in Houston but have learned a lot about medical centers in that city. They have some of the top hospitals in the country.
Take a look at Houston Methodist. It is right around the corner from MD Anderson and is rated 15 in the nation for what you are looking for. Probably much better than Vanderbilt (which is a very good center).

US News publishes a list every year for hospital rankings. Do a Google search to see what else you can find.
By the way the top centers is where you want to be for anything serious. Their diagnostic and treatments may be the difference between living and not!
Good luck.
Baylor St. Luke’s according to Becker’s Spine Review.
Try a doctor with UT Physicians
10-4 — they have a whole raft of neurosurgeons there. They will find the best one for your wife. Prayers for complete healing, Jer 29:11.
Can Vanderbilt give you the name of a neurosurgeon in your area who trained at Vanderbilt? You might also check for papers that her former neurosurgeon co authored and see if any of those listed with him are now on staff at area hospitals. I hope she finds the medical care she needs.
Thanks to everyone! We’ll be calling tomorrow. No further info needed for now. Thank you all so much!!!
I did nursing contract work for 6 months at Baylor St Luke on the cardiac floor in 2015. Best nursing team I ever encountered. Strong skills, deeply compassionate. Never went to Neuro floor, but left with good impression of facility.

You might have better selection in San Antonio than Austin. I would start here and if they can’t help they should be able to help with a referral.

Prayers up and good luck.
I’m not very knowledgeable about who would be best to address this, but I can certainly keep your wife and you in my prayers.
We have found that the concentration of resources at the Texas Medical Center here in Houston is truly incredible. Several tertiary hospitals each with specialized quatenary capabilities, many capable specialists in different disciplines, state of the art imaging etc. Having everything right in one place is a huge help in and of itself.
Worth looking in to, at least.
Methodist Hospital - Sugar Land.

Again, heartfelt gratitude to all responding. I knew that good information would come from Free Republic. The country the way it USED to be.
