WATCH: Suspect In High-Speed Police Chase Bursts Into Flames After Being Tasered
Daily Wire ^ | 10/21/22 | John Rigolizzo

Police in Arkansas accidentally set a suspect on fire after a prolonged police chase.

Arkansas State Police (ASP) were in pursuit of a suspect on a motorcycle in Little Rock last week, dashcam video showed. Police finally caught up with the suspect after a prolonged chase, and when one of the officers attempted to taser him, the suspect erupted into a fireball, before police extinguished the fire and arrested the suspect.

No news reports of the incident have been published, but a full-length video of the chase from the YouTube channel Police Pursuits provided the full context. The pursuit began at around 1:11 in the morning local time. ASP trooper Joseph Killian was in hot pursuit of a suspect speeding down the street on a motorcycle. Police chased the suspect while radioing for backup. Trooper Austin Duncan-Flemister caught up and gave chase, as the suspect continued onto the highway at speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour. At around the 8:40 mark of the video, the suspect cuts through a shopping center parking lot and into a residential area, where police finally catch up to him.

As the suspect attempts to escape on foot, an officer tracks him down and deploys a taser. At that point, something in the suspect’s backpack catches fire and immediately explodes into a massive fireball. “He’s on fire!” Duncan-Flemister shouts, as other officers back away. The suspect gets up, still on fire himself, and stumbles away from the larger fire, then attempts to stop, drop, and roll. “Help me! Help me!” he can be heard shouting, before police return with fire extinguishers and put the fire out.

Where else would you store gas stolen from citizens on your stolen bike? In your pocket?

This has happened quite a few times in the past. Usually when some dumb bastid has been drinking/spilling high proof alcohol all over himself and then challenges the coppers — as drunkards do.

Well, of course he bursts into flames! So would your Xmas tree if you soaked it in gas and let the dumb cat knook it over into the fireplace.

Tasers are not safe.

They are assumed safe and they are liberally used because of this.

Government and police are not trying very hard to look, so they see no problem, but tasers kill folks all the time. This is a case where folks don’t want to see, so rather not look!

I’d rather have police use old fashioned clubs, but that makes for bad images on cell phones and social media/MSM media.

The taser allows for a quick and clean incapacitation, i.e. no bruises, blood, not a lot of screaming... But... occasionally hearts stop, more often than folks realize you have heart rythem issues after being tased... Not everyone out there is perfectly healthy.

Good ole fashioned club.

***This is a classic form vs. function scenario.

But this is like so many other “advances” that really aren’t. The gas chamber, electric chair, guillotine, lethal injection... all were supposed to be improved ways to do things but in reality are plagued with problems and hanging is to this day the most reliable and efficient way to execute someone fast and painlessly.

Stop trying to play these games. Stick with what works.

The officers should have used that opportunity to take their usual 30-minute donut break...
Then got a broom out and cleaned up the mess...

Bikers tend to wear heavy and thick clothing for protection against cold and road-rash. Helmet with faceshield would help protect airway.

What exactly was he going to do with the gasoline? Was it for his bike, to do a bit of arson, or what?

Quit clutching your pearls. Tasers save lives, and not just cops lives.

A billy club can do everything a taser can, and more.

The club is faster, more reliable, can be used repeatedly, AND you won’t confuse it with a gun, cause the pump to shut down, rythem issues, catch folks on fire...

We’re all about appearances today, not functionality.

The club isn’t pretty when used.

As to “saving lives:”

If you want to save lives, remove most of the females that can’t do their damn job and need to be paired up with a male or resort to lethal force because they can’t physically handle a situation.

Here’s a statistic police won’t advertise, look at the use of lethal force and introduction of females in policing.

Why do you think years ago (when we still cared about what makes sense - not some egalitarian BS) we had a minimum 6’ height requirement for MPs in the Army?

What happens when a 5’3’’ 130 lbs female gets tangled up with a 6’4’’ 220 pound George Floyd? How does she handle that situation?

You need people that can get physical, and many of these females in the police cannot and your stupid little taser isn’t going to fix that.
