Next year, Circle K gas stations will give new meaning to the term “highway.” Circle K has partnered with multi-state cannabis operator Green Thumb Industries to sell legal cannabis at Circle K gas stations in the state of Florida. The collaboration marks the first time cannabis will be sold at a gas station. It also comes after President Joe Biden said he is starting action to decriminalize the drug.
Marijuana had previously only been sold legally in dispensaries in the United States. Marijuana has also been sold at pharmacies in other countries with legal cannabis programs. Marijuana sales are expected to “continue to normalize” cannabis by fusing it with standard consumer products, according to Green Thumb CEO Ben Kovler, who described the relationship as a “futuristic deal.”
Bloomberg reports that Green Thumb will sell the cannabis in spaces that it leases from 10 Circle K locations. The cannabis outlets will be branded as “RISE Express,” with a separate entrance from the gas station. Cannabis will only be sold to residents who have medical marijuana cards. Around 700,000 people in Florida have access to the card.
The state only allows cannabis to be purchased for medical reasons. While this new partnership is limited to only ten locations, Circle K’s Kovler stated that “there is appetite” to expand its partnership across other states. Let’s see how it goes. To get the latest updates, keep an eye on Thirsty.
False assumption. Compare the store selling weed vs selling alcohol. If fact, since they would be selling more than enough servings of alcohol (i.e. a case of bee or fifth of booze) to cause anyone to exceed the legal limit virtually every sale would put the store at risk under your theory.
ROFL true, that
Today I saw a new pot shop and 2 stores away, a new donut shop. Not the same building but getting close.
Yep, once again that consuming cannabis makes one stupid
Big corporate money is going into weed now. The lawsuits will fly later when the robberies and other miscellaneous degeneracy associated with dopers appear on their premises.
Funny that before it was criminalized it wasnt even an issue.
Tell you what, why don’t you go try smoking some yourself and then maybe you come away with a conclusion like everybody else has that there’s nothing to it.
It’s all hype its way over blown.
The whole illegal thing is just way so stupid
Just watch the Netflix documentary on it then maybe you’ll get a clue
Yeah coming from somebody that it’s never smoked it before. But yet you’ll down a couple shots of whiskey and think nothing about it.
Like my neighbor friend says the trouble with church is church people. The problem with FreeRepublic is sanctimonious a holes like yourself that know anything about what they’re talking about but feel the need to comment anyway
I say boycott Circle K. (I know of only one in the Reno area and actually worked for them over a year as an undergrad after getting out of the Navy in the 80s).
They already sell alcohol. So they already have product they’re “assuming” you won’t use until you get home. Not really any different.
My bad - a glitch and I didn’t see the most awesome image at the beginning!
This is INSANITY, they are doing everything possible to outlaw vaping products BUT NOW they can sell pot at gas stations!! They are deliberately creating utter chaos wherever they can to DESTROY this nation AND Soros is at the helm of it all!!
I’ll tell you, in San Francisco, this stupid drug has become so popular that I regularly see (and smell) other drivers toking it up as they drive around town. It’s a problem, as, in many cases, their driving truly is impaired.
That is starting to happen in Florida and we’ve barely legalized. Sometimes I smell weed when stopped at a red light from, obviously, another driver. Disgusting and dangerous.
drive thru marijuana dispensaries
hey, glaucoma runs in the families
If circle k sells you some dope and you smoke down the freeway and do similar are they liable?...
As I see it, the big difference , and it is huge, is that you consume the alcohol at the bar. Smoking the dope is forbidden at the dispensary, so what happens is on your own time.
“If circle k sells you some dope and you smoke down the freeway and do similar are they liable?”
In a bar you consume before leaving the bar. This would be more like buying a six-pack and drinking on the road after leaving the place of business.
Also I’d plan on seeing more Circle K robberies LOL
Just what we need... one more thing to rile up the thumpers...
Clearly one of the greatest societal advances since the drive through liquor store.
