Next year, Circle K gas stations will give new meaning to the term “highway.” Circle K has partnered with multi-state cannabis operator Green Thumb Industries to sell legal cannabis at Circle K gas stations in the state of Florida. The collaboration marks the first time cannabis will be sold at a gas station. It also comes after President Joe Biden said he is starting action to decriminalize the drug.
Marijuana had previously only been sold legally in dispensaries in the United States. Marijuana has also been sold at pharmacies in other countries with legal cannabis programs. Marijuana sales are expected to “continue to normalize” cannabis by fusing it with standard consumer products, according to Green Thumb CEO Ben Kovler, who described the relationship as a “futuristic deal.”
Bloomberg reports that Green Thumb will sell the cannabis in spaces that it leases from 10 Circle K locations. The cannabis outlets will be branded as “RISE Express,” with a separate entrance from the gas station. Cannabis will only be sold to residents who have medical marijuana cards. Around 700,000 people in Florida have access to the card.
The state only allows cannabis to be purchased for medical reasons. While this new partnership is limited to only ten locations, Circle K’s Kovler stated that “there is appetite” to expand its partnership across other states. Let’s see how it goes. To get the latest updates, keep an eye on Thirsty.
What could POSSIBLY go wrong?
I wonder about liability.
If a bar over serves you and you drive drunk and kill someone they can be liable.
If circle k sells you some dope and you smoke down the freeway and do similar are they liable?
So strange. All these seatbelt laws and car seat laws and vehicle safety requirements and then they start selling weed at gas stations. Straining at gnats, swallowing camels.
So, if gas costs too much, you can still take a trip?
After Colorado legalized weed a woman was so stoned she put her baby in a car seat, set it on the car roof, forgot about it and drove off.
Passerby found the baby and it wasn’t harmed.
And never leave the Parking lot.........................
I dont believe it. Fake news.
trailer parks rejoice.
It’s real. It was on our local TV news as well......................
Yeah there’s not enough sketchy characters hanging out around convenience stores already
SMH
Our local Circle K already sells marijuana............Just not in the store......................
IAC, I’ve always made it a point to avoid anything labeled “Circle K”...
It is common knowledge that George Soros funds the pro legalization of marijuana movement here in the US. Can anyone cite one thing that George Soros has actually done that is good for America? I’m certain that legalizing cannabis for recreational use is going to be proved as a humongous mistake with devastating consequences on American society. Quote: people who do drugs are searching for a dream but the drugs will destroy any dreams they’ll ever have.
Not just yours and not just Circle K I would imagine
If they are going to do this, they had better 86 the sushi or the streets are going to be littered with puke.
I’ll tell you, in San Francisco, this stupid drug has become so popular that I regularly see (and smell) other drivers toking it up as they drive around town. It’s a problem, as, in many cases, their driving truly is impaired. I’ve heard that among chronic users it’s less of a problem as their tolerance for the drug is often at such a level that they can more or less function high. The real problem is among teen and “amateur” potheads who can become quite dysfunctional after a joint or two.
It doesn’t seem any different than a dispensary I go to being right beside a gas station. There is no difference. It’s already legal
This is a real time-saver.
Get gassed and stoned simultaneously, and then get on the road.
“If circle k sells you some dope”
Circle K is not selling the dope.
We already have drive through dispensaries and curb side pickup. I don’t even get out of the car. There’s no difference
