New solution provides safer nuclear power Nuclear reactors in the U.S. usually fall under the category of Light-Water Reactor. These split uranium atoms to create energy, with leftover materials and heat stored in solid fuel rods that require running water to keep them cool. If the rods don't receive enough water and overheat, the entire facility is at risk of a meltdown.
The new solution proposed by the BYU scientists will store the leftover radioactive elements in molten salts instead of fuel rods. "Nuclear energy can be extremely safe and extremely affordable, if done the right way," Memmott explained. "It’s a very good solution to the energy situation we're in because there are no emissions or pollution from it."

Why do you insist on telling people they’re wrong without saying what is correct?
You do it all the time.
I get your nuclear war survivalist joke.
But on a serious note. Nuclear power has always been the most “environmental,” which is ironic seeing how the left and greeny folks fear and loath this source of power.
***IF we derived most our power today from this source, the so called green car (coal and gas powered today) really would be green.
Sovereign, cheap, reliable, scalable, long lasting, small footprint, and best of all clean: no H2SO4, HNO3, coal distillates like toluene, xylene, benzene... No massive sludge, no massive mining, no massive refining, logistics, noise, soot...
Nuclear power is held back by an ignorant people and political so called “leaders” that pander to this ignorance. Is there a threat, of course there is. But in the sum of all factors, nuclear power is still by an order of magnitude cleaner and safer than fossil fuels, while being cheaper, more scalable and reliable than all so called green power sources.
Nuclear power truly is the solution.
Once you switch to nuclear, then you push everything possible (where feasible) to electric and fossil fuels are merely used where there is no practical alternative say air travel.
It was all the buzz in the Science Fiction of the 50's as well. Asimov was using atomic power for personal force fields in his Robot novels.
These need to be the sources of energy for fast-charging stations.
When not charging cars, feed energy back into the grid.
“Yeah, a thorium microreactor about the suze if a softball could power both a home and bevy of vehicles without lithium batteries.”
Don’t quit your day job.
The BYU scientist’s molten salt nuclear micro-reactor would measure 4 ft x 7ft. What’s more, as there’s no risk of a meltdown, there is no need for a large exclusion zone. According to the research team, their micro-reactor can produce enough energy to power 1,000 typical homes in the U.S.
“The micro-reactor can also fit onto a 40-foot truck bed”

Finally! An Electric Truck worth having!

YOU ARE WROMG>
“YOU ARE WROMG>”
Fetterman, is that you?...
—”Problem is, the grid and its utility plants go bye-bye and that brings nasty politics and BS scare tactics.”
Commonwealth Edison of Illinois was and may still be, the largest employer and land owner in Illinois.
They also kept Mike Madigan the controller of Illinois politics in their back pocket. And he in turn kept many unions in his pocket.
The son of the CEO of ComEd was famous bomber, Bill Ayers.
Somehow the prosecutors made a few errors and Ayers was off the hook!!!
Imagine that!
Will power your EV when the electric grid fails.
“Fetterman, is that you?...”
Grow up.
But Solar is FREE!! (/S)
I’ll grow up when you quit being a dick to people here.
Gator fight!
HA ! Good one!
“Wait until they discover what damage can be achieved with used smoke alarms.”

Thank you.
Apex predators. :)
I don’t care who you are, that’s funny.
