Congratulations. You’ve just purchased one of the most expensive high-performance electric trucks on the market.
You’ve gone green and you’ve done it in style with the GMC Hummer, starting at $86,645. That’s right — the Hummer’s now a green vehicle! What was once the biggest villain in the left’s war on fossil fuels is now the poster child for responsible off-roading....
The video begins with standard 120V charging — or Level 1 charging, to use official jargon. This is the standard current your home already offers.
“Right now it’s about 6 p.m. on Tuesday,” the man says. “And it says it will be full by Saturday at 10:55 [p.m.], which is four-plus days of charging. Wow.”
However, our intrepid Hummer owner had one of those — the JuiceBox, a 240v charger, installed in his garage.
How much difference did that make? Not as much as you might think. “Now it says it will be done tomorrow by 6:30 [p.m.],” the video narrator says. “So about 24 hours of charging from four percent to 100 percent.”.......
Car and Driver went to an Electrify America charging station, where it cost over $100 to “fill up” the Hummer at 43 cents per kilowatt hour....

Not too mention that lithium isn’t exactly common or recycleable.
I would imagine, at some point, that will be the only way to handle any demand. First come, first serve.
The FOSSIL FUELED power plants can only generate so much juice and other folks need it to. I see them limiting the amount that can go to your home and if you have an EV, you just might be SOL.
I can’t wait til all the 20-30 something Liberal hipsters start whining about not being able to charge their baby Tesla’s or whatever they bought. That will be epic
Next I plan in a body shop in the backyard, can you say “custom paint jobs” boys and girls?
The BIG MISTAKE made by many EV owners is actually driving them, when their main purpose is to stay put, at home, and be used for Virtue Signalling.
Hopefully this article got that point across.
"220, 221... whatever it takes".
If people simply refuse to buy these cars, what happens to the EV revolution? Will it make any difference to the powers that be that “the dogs don’t like the dog food”, or will they just keep going full speed ahead? Do they know about the huge practical hurdles to making this happen on a fairly short time line and this is all designed to fail to put an end to private transportation? Maybe 2035 America will look like Havana, if we can still get the fuel.
Nobody charges to 100%…it takes forever and damages the battery. A quick Google search shows that the time for a normal charge on that vehicle is 10 hours with a Level 2 charger. The article is complete nonsense and drama for no reason.
So he paid $80k for the car and didn’t buy the charging station?! Well, that’s on him.
If you want a Mall Crawler the Hummer might make sense but get it out in the mud and it is going to sink like a lead balloon. A 10K lb. lead balloon.
The battery itself weighs about 3000 lbs!
Like I am going to take a $90K vehicle out in the mud and brush and put a bunch of West Texas pinstripes all down the sides. LOL!
I drove 3800 miles for work in September. 3816 to be exact. Most of that was pulling a trailer, which we’ll forget about for this.
Assuming the Hummer actually does get 300 miles per charge and that I used the 24 hour charger, 12.6 days would be spent charging. In other words, 40% of the time would be spent waiting for my battery to charge.
3800 is a little heavy for me but not by much.
EV mandates will force me to lose my current job. Great idea
Noticed that, have you? Like clockwork, particularly one clown who always shows up to perform as a fluffer.
I think we both know who you’re talking about.
At some point he’ll bring up 700 and 1400hp EVs. Price not mentioned as no one but a millionaires and billionaires can afford them
That any mention of African kids in mines comes from one source.
We’re all uneducated rubes for not buying a toy electric car.
Blah blah blah blah blah blah.
Hi boss, gonna be a bit late to work, My Hummer is running on empty. Be there soon as it’s charged.
He did. Still took him 24hrs, though.
If you buy another car next week with an ICE, will you have to buy a gas pump to keep it running?
It truly is the best possible of all demented worlds...
Different situation. Everybody knows EVs charge better with the stations. If you buy the car, especially an expensive model, and don’t buy the station you’re an idiot. Or if you buy the car then don’t use the station to “prove” something, also an idiot. It’s like buying a sports car then putting cheap tires on it. Certain decision necessitate other decisions.
Or maybe 10 direct lightning hits.
Well, dinodino, you might want to take the time to watch the video, which can be accessed through the article.
While watching that video you will see that he has a 240v charger and that it would take 24hrs to charge. He shows it. Clear as day.
With regards to damaging the battery at 100% charge, WTF does that mean? Buy a car because you’re GREEN. Charge using electricity made at a fossil fueled power plant. But don’t charge it all the way, because you’ll damage the battery that you just paid an obscene amount of money for. Only charge to 90% and you’ll get even less driving time. But, if you do charge it to 100% and wear out the battery sooner, you’ll have to drop as much as you paid for the car for the new battery. Hmmmmm.
Sounds like a bargain.
Green is the new Red.
