German Food Producers Warn Energy Prices Will Force Them To Close

[H/T Farcesensitive]

Germany’s food producers are warning that rising energy prices may soon force them to shut their doors.

The German Frozen Food Institute and the Association of German Cold Storage and Logistics Companies recently released an open letter to the public, in which they stated, “There are significant supply gaps in the daily food supply for people in Germany. The situation is more than serious.”

It went on, “Companies now fear that production lines will soon come to a standstill and that refrigerated logistics centers for food distribution will be closed. Some are even preparing for possible insolvency.”

The letter was signed by five other industry groups, and was addressed to Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Federal Minister of Economics Robert Habeck and Federal Minister for Food Cem Ozdemir.

“Germany hung its economy by a single thread.”
Kind of like the US and china.
All by design.

Sorry we (the U.S.) bombed your pipeline, krauts. You can’t have any of our food however.

“And here we are, with a global political class composed of Caligulas.”

Yep, absolutely... I wish the scope of general scrutiny was better at seeing the true bigger picture. And they are successful because we are imiting our own perspectives. We don’t chase it far enough up the pyramid.

I often wonder if it is because we just refuse to believe any human or group of humans could be so cruel and scrupulous. Do we hold too much faith in basic human compassion which limits our perspective and full realization? If so... We are gravely mistaken.

It’s just a tiny piece of the puzzle — but I think part of the problem is that after WWII we convinced ourselves that “Hitler was a monster”. And it’s true: he was a monster ... but people are monsters. Human nature is very flawed. It’s not a “Hitler” problem, it’s a “people” problem.

The solution is to NOT give a lot of political power to anyone and to NOT let the public be lied to.

The US has certainly failed in a big way. Our government is far too big, too rich, and too powerful, and it controls the media and lies to people all day long. It’s monstrous and millions will die. Again.

Very well said and I fully agree. I see it too. We fail to accept that history always repeats it’s self. We just never learn.

Mothballing producing power plants when you’ve got little in place to replace them is insanity.

Like in California.

I missed an opportunity to buttonhole one of our PSC Commissioners at a Herschel Walker event a few weeks ago. I need to start writing those guys.

I think most of our coal plants are burning natural gas. I hope they can still burn coal if need be.

We think that Alcatraz should be a museum, instead of a functioning prison.

We will have insane asylums again - or all live in one.

Alcatraz would never hold them all. There was a time in history when places like Alcatraz were Monastery sanctuaries to archive and protect intellectual and moral knowledge from an insane world. We are about there again right now.

I would even eat dirt - if you ate a pizza spiced up with a few micrograms of polonium.

Hahaha. Very funny.

Thank you very much, Gentlemen. I coulddn’t agree more.

Maybe carbon units - sorry, people, I wanted to say - like Long Jon No Silver, have enough “silver” in their pockets...from the Powers that Be for sowing discord among the peons on the Internet.

I’m placing my bet :-)

"The latest reports from the Energy Security Board and the Australian Energy Regulator confirmed the costs of new wind, solar, batteries and transmission projects will ultimately be passed onto consumers who have already been hit with record high power prices this year..."

and

"Higher power prices are here to stay, for at least the next few years, even if renewable energy may drive down prices in the longer term..."

and

(regarding California) "Mothballing producing power plants when you’ve got little in place to replace them is insanity."

All 100% true. But there is a way to bring the cost of power down. And that's with the free market. Forget how the libs are pushing green energy at the utility level. And when it comes to home solar, also ignore them when they promote putting your excess power onto the grid (as leaders in both Australia and California have done).

If you install home solar but don't put power onto the grid, you're basically a normal power user as far as the grid goes except you consume a lot less power from the grid. If everybody who could do that did it (i.e. most home owners in Australia, most of California, and the southern half of the U.S.) there'd be a lot less demand for power from the grid. Less demand = lower prices.

And it makes the electrical power industry more of a free market. It may not be 100% free market (it wouldn't work for renters or condos), but it heads us in that direction.

If my non-solar neighbors and family members don't like their power service from the utility they have no recourse. The same with me but that's only for the 5-15% of my power I have to buy from the utility. With the other 85-95% of my power: if I don't like how my solar inverters operate I can buy one from a competitor. The same with my panels and my batteries. Likewise we can learn from each other (i.e. one reason I didn't get a supposed "worth the cost" Tesla Powerwall is because of problems other people had).

Having all the silver in the world won’t help if there is nothing available to buy. We should care greatly what is happening in Germany, because it is just one of the first dominoes to fall in the chain that will indeed end up with us being included before too long.

Absolutely true. We “peons” are all in this together :-)

You, and many other clearsighted Freepers, have long realized this fact.

Others, alas, not so much...
