A photographer used artificial intelligence to bring stars who left us too soon back to life - creating eerie portraits of Princess Diana, Kurt Cobain, John Lennon, Janis Joplin, Freddie Mercury and others.

The haunting and realistic images are the work of Alper Yesiltas, a photographer based in Turkey who created the portraits for a project titled 'As If Nothing Happened.'

He used artificial intelligence photo enhancer software and photo editing programs to create the pictures.

I agree. The Elvis picture looked totally fake. Some of the others were believable. Plus Elivs looked way too skinny.

Huh. Wonder what Keith Richards would look like if he were still alive...

Yeah, sometime someone will do an artificial intelligence image of what Keith Richards would have looked like if he had died when he should have. :-)

Intriguing, but why does Diana look way older than Freddie Mercury?

Because if they had managed to age and live as they lived...

Well, I don't recall that Diana lived at the beach. And poor Freddie... you'd think by the photo he never ventured outside the hallowed halls of academia.

Of course the flaming homosexual is depicted as having perfect skin and distinguished hairline.

I hear ya.

As H.G. Wells wrote:

I go to London and see the busy multitudes in Fleet Street and the Strand, and it comes across my mind that they are but the ghosts of the past, haunting the streets that I have seen silent and wretched, going to and fro, phantasms in a dead city, the mockery of life in a galvanised body.

Yep. Low Spark of High Heeled Boys is one of the very best albums of all time. Not one bad cut on it.

You wonder if John Lennon would actually be still alive today if he had not been senselessly murdered. I wonder if he had a smoking habit like George Harrison’s that would have caught up to him by 65 or 70?

Looks way too thin for the trajectory he was on, if you ask me.

“Freddie’s hair got thicker.”

The AI doesn’t seem ti know about hair in the nose or ears.

Elvis looks way to young for an 87 year old

Relativistic effects of the alien abduction kept him young looking. They also helped him lose weight. /snicker

Ha! Like you, I’d really like to see Buddy Holly.

Maybe JFK.

Marilyn? (No, let her live in my memory as the glam girl.)

Just a couple days ago I looked to see what Eric Burden looks like now

Would never know that was him. Not bad, just old

I heard someone say one time, “You don’t see too many 300 pound 70 year-olds.” And you don’t. Most all die early deaths. Elvis probably didn’t weigh 300, but he was way overweight.

They age progressed Michael Jackson from before the time he decided to become a white woman.

Freddy Mercury looks like someone's family doctor.

Elvis looks like he's 58, not eighty-something.

And Janis Joplin makes me sad.

Elvis would be 87 today if he had lived. No way he would look that good.
