I know this has probably been going on a long time. Bu I have a problem with the concept. And everyone should.
I just ordered $1000 worth of tires. The shipper sent them free shipping. They use FedEx as contracted.
Long story short, after two weeks of chasing hese down o make sure they actually and finally get to me something happened that bothered me greatly.
The shipper sent them as "signature required". Bu when they finally showed up I asked the delivery guy if he needed a signature. He told me that no he did not because he already applied "signature on file".
I asked him... How do you know it is at the right address and the right person? He told me "doesn't matter, I signed for you and you received them".
But how do you know I am being honest about who I am?
"Doesn't matter, they were delivered".
Personally I am going to make sure they remove my signature from "on file". If they had delivered these to a wrong address and person I would have been out $1000 bucks and would have had to fight with possibly even a lawsuit to get justification.
I strongly suggest addressing this "on file" issue with any and all delivery services you use. No... unless I sign for each and every delivery then it didn't happen.
And this is exactly what Is wrong with the concept. The hardships it creates can actually land folks in jail because they “went to get it back” from the wrong address next door.
Who in their right mind would just accept this concept as a normal business model?

It is a very simple definition...
Today I watched air traffic in America. I was SHOCKED with planes marked PRIME... obviously Bezos is taking his own merchandise from airport to airport. For sure this has hit Fed Ex in the pocket... When can there be action in Congress that BUSTS these monopolies..like Teddy Roosevelt took on the Railroads and made them divest... Isn’t there a danger for any company to monopolize the source, the procedure and end product?
Of course in this modern world where most of what you’re signing is electronic your signature is on file. It just is.
I'm the dude who is now living rent free in your mind.......LOL!
Even for a Flakka shipment from China?
“Sorry to hear that, may I make a suggestion to help you out with your constant diet of rice and beans??”
Hey... simple minded class clown. You Humble Gunner? If not please stop trying to be. He is a one of a kind and you discredit him with your obvious extremely low IQ.
I am 75 miles from any stores. My rig is down because last trip in the heat I had three tires separate from the heat. I can’t go get supplies until I get these tires on the truck.
Please take your childish class clown shit somewhere else so the adults here can have an adult discussion...
Man I hate when ignorant low IQ sadism comes into an intelligent discussion. “Look at me!” I am an A$$hole and proud of it!”
I’m lucky to get FedEx to deliver a package period. I always tell the shipper to use UPS.
Sorry to hear that. All the truckers I know have personal vehicles, why aren't you one of them? Or do you make your wife walk to the local store when you're on the road?

Nice try dude......
To add to my above post, you can still leave a signed and dated note on your door telling the driver to just leave the package anyway.
They have difficulty getting drivers/deliverers
Those little electronic devices where you are
supposed to sign your name in the box are worthless.
I don’t understand their purpose.
“Anyone” can scribble “anything” in that little box.
It is not like a signature ever gets matched up anywhere.
I have just done a scribble, or a dash, or wrote “Elvis” and
it does not matter, it all gets accepted and goes through.
“Have you tried to call FedEx lately and get any customer service?”
Quite aggravating, is it not?
One of their dimwit drivers bent the rain gutter on my house. He never said a word and I only noticed it a few days after the delivery. I tried numerous times to talk with someone using their automated phone system. What finally worked was when I said “Driver” the I finally got an English as a second language representative. He took my info but I never heard back from them.
I would rather never to receive packages shipped via FEDEX. UPS is much better IMO. Another pet peeve is FEDEX will either lay packages in front of my overhead garage door or lean them against it. Someday I will surely back out of the garage run over a package.

True... I can see it now...
“Let me see the signature on file... Look... Do I look like Elvis to you?”
Lol
I just talked to fed ex. Yes it took over an hour to get a person. I politely told her to start writing a resume. Her companies days were numbered.
I’ve sent out many documents over the years signature required with FedEx, that they just drop off.
If I correctly recall, signature required is a cost plus extra.
A commercial Dodge dually 1 ton with a cummins is commonly referred to as a rig by all who own one.
Hence, needing six tires should have been a no brainer...
But instead of reading you just like to get off on being sadistic to members here.
Let me fill you in on what you do not know and need to know A$$hole. I just spent four months watching my Dad die slowly, My wife is currently dying, I have been running my ass off for those four months back and forth trying to keep them both alive and my tires failed. So did Dad on 9-11.
Do you care? Would you care? Of course not, all you care about is getting attention and getting off on being a sadistic class clown having no clue what is happening in the lives of those you get off on...
Nice try dude...... Absolute immoral and unrighteous comedy from a childish a$$hole class clown.
There wasn’t even any justification to throw jokes as you did in the first place. Did I come hit you? No...
They used to have high standards for employment. I worked there over 30 years ago and for men it was no earrings, no beards, no visible tattoos, and short hair. Plus random drug tests.
Correct.
You seem to understand.
“Signature Required” is a meaningless exercise.
