And here is he kicker... We ordered from the shipper on the east coast in the afternoon, by the next morning they were on a truck from a west coast terminal “out for delivery”. We should have received these 6 tires basically overnight.
Bu because of incompetence and a system of chaos it took a week and a half just to get from the local terminal to us. Back and forth, back and forth, and if I had not chased them down they would have sent them back.
Now the real cause? Turns out GPS was wrong and the driver didn’t just pull up Google maps to find us. And heir system completely ignores he Zip Code map... GPS is much smarter than the Zip Code map...
This is bad management, policy, and system design from top to bottom. They need me to route this stuff, I could save them millions a year in overhead using common sense.
Ever track a package on their own system that keeps going back and forth for no reason at all even though it could have been delivered the next day? I know I am NOT THE ONLY ONE...
Not sure what was going on. I had a UPS package stuck in Baltimore once for several days. They finally admitted it “was lost”. And Baltimore was not were it originated from.
Unless something’s changed they don’t let us use the onboard GPS. Liability we’re told. Just about all of our stops are mapped out by the driver before leaving. Google Maps is widely used although Apple Maps is more accurate in rural areas. At least it seems that way to me.
Residential deliveries are contacted prior to freight arrival to ensure somebody will be home to sign for the delivery the next day or so. This is FedEx Freight. Not sure how Ground or Express do it.
You can send your texts to me via Freerepublic mail. I’m more interested in your address and the misdelivered addresses just to see what comes up for me. I was pretty good at landnav in the Army so maps don’t scare me. I find cheating much easier and I can tell when electronic maps are leading me down a rabbit hole :)
If you don’t want to, I completely understand. Sorry for your troubles.
You are apparently in the system...? If so... I will just share the tracking number and it will all be there for you.
I had a set of tires left leaning against my mailbox - 200 feet down the driveway from the front door - a little woodsy area but we can't see the mailbox - luckily I got an email notification, was home and went right out. Been awhile, don't recall the delivery service.
Hope this helps.
I'm going to check with the sig on file issue with UPS, Amazon and FedEx. Thanks.
