Could taking a daily multivitamin help maintain cognitive health with aging and possibly prevent cognitive decline? According to new research from Wake Forest University School of Medicine, conducted in collaboration with Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, taking a daily supplement may improve cognition in older adults, but additional studies are needed to confirm these findings before any health recommendations are made. The study also showed that daily use of a cocoa extract supplement does not benefit cognition.
According to the Alzheimer's Association, more than 6.5 million Americans are living with Alzheimer's disease, and 1 in 3 seniors die with the disease or another form of dementia.
The researchers estimated that three years of multivitamin supplementation roughly translated to a 60% slowing of cognitive decline (about 1.8 years). The benefits were relatively more pronounced in participants with significant cardiovascular disease, which is important because these individuals are already at increased risk for cognitive impairment and decline.

I also should mention that folic acid is added to almost all
processed foods claiming “enriched flour.” Pastas, bread, crackers, cereals, etc. If you have a sensitivity to wheat products, you might find that you also have multiple MTHFR gene mutations and are actually reacting to the folic acid.
1000mg B1 and 1000mg of Mucuna Pruriens Extract and then go for a nice nature walk. Just try it.
First tip, 1000 mg. B1 is 500 times the recommended daily allowance. I know nothing about Mucuna Pruriens Extract and I would say to take advice like that given here without researching it would be foolish in the extreme.
I am a healthy mentally active 84 year old. Fifty-two years ago I had a health crisis after my first child was born with severe colic lasting for 9 months. My mother hadWith severe varicose veins and leg ulcers. At age 45 she had her veins stripped and I did not relish doing the same. My legs hurt when standing after 8 pm. so I lay down, neglected housework and angered my husband. I was lucky to be given a book by Adelle Davis called “Let’s Eat Right to Keep Fit” which tells how to use food and supplements for improved health. I began taking the supplements she recommended for varicose veins, menstrual cramps, backpain and exhaustion. Within 1 month I could stand til midnight with no leg pain, I never missed another day of work from my woman’s monthly, and I needed 2 hours less a night of sleep. I also fed my 9 month old a little yogurt every day and in 3 days the colic was gone.
I had majored in science and education so was fascinated with these results. Since I needed 2 hours less sleep at night I read all 4 of Adelle Davis’ books and started reading everything about therepeutic nutrition I could find. I read every night for at least an hour for almost 2 years. I even formed my own health action group and testified when the FDA was trying to limit availability of supplements. We succeeded. Conservatives and liberals were strongly united on this issue.
There are lots of books on health, supplements, and nutrition. On line you can enter the name of a problem and ask for recommendations. Here are some I have entered recently for family and friends. Food and supplements for tackycardia (rapid heartbeat, and my friend has had fewer episodes). Food and supplements for cataracts (after 2 years my cataracts are 80% improved). Food and supplements to use or avoid during colon cancer chemotheraoy (I sent my brother 8 or 9 bottles of various supplements after his colon surgery, and 6 months later he is feeling and functioning a lot better). At any rate, I hope you get the idea.
When I testified I even read Dr. Roger Williams, whose book Biochemical Individuality explains why people might need a lot more of a few vitamins and less of others. My ancestors were dairy herders and I have a higher need for calcium. Also with allergies I need a lot more Vitamin C and pantothenic acid, as it turned out my allergic father did too . I hope this helps. Feel free to Private Reply on a personal question.
Ya wanna know what WILL improve cognition and protect against decline? Remaining productive. Working. Needing to get up early and organize one’s day. A hobby or other passion will work as well. Instead, there is little financial incentive to have a job.
Watching the view or other daytime TV will hasten the decline.
Forget about “the pill”. Some people think that all problems can be solved with a pill.
Really. Is this news? Who knew that taking vitamins would be a good thing? They actually did a study? Where did the money come from — a grant from us, the US taxpayers?
does the walk or the vits give you the runs?

are you talking about using google or is there a website that specializes in this?
The only supplement I took daily over those 20 years was 2,000 IU of Vitamin D. Over the past couple years, I've added zinc and vitamin C supplements, due to COVID.
We both take a 50+ multi each day. Make sure yours also includes Lutien for your eyesight - per my ‘eye doctor.’
(I can never remember how to spell Opthamologist or Optomatrist and I’m not looking it up!) :)
I like WebMD.com but will often read several others too.
Sometimes I’ll go to GNC stores or STOPAGINGNOW.COM to get supplements, but my preferred site is:
then I’m not sure of your point. Can you restate it?
We take the Dementia protocol plus a super B, C and turmeric everyday.
I remember Adele Davis. She wrote several books on health and nutrition back in the 70’s. My high school science teacher used to quote her in our classes.
the biotrust link is just landing page for vitamin d.
did you intend a different link?

Just grabbed the latest email link, here’s the ‘front door’

The problem with taking a very high dose of one B vitamin is that it throws all the other B vitamins out of balance. There should be a defined reason for introducing a very high level of one over all the others. Also other nutrients need to be balanced. For example roughly the same Sodium (salt) and Potassium amounts, Calcium and Magnesium at about a 2 to 1 ratio, etc.
As I explained, going to Google and then entering the problem and a request for information on vitamins, minerals, supplements and foods to help is a good way, but not the only way to find such help. Just remember there has been a systematic effort to discourage anything but medicine (often high priced) to fix all disorders.
For example in Spring 2020 when asked, Fauci said Vitamins C and D did not help Covid. There have since been studies that prove that both in adequate amounts ARE helpful. By November 2020, Fauci had to admit that those 2 vitamins could be helpful. A Turkish study in 2021 showed that OPTIMUM Vitamin D levels were not found in their Covid treatment subjects. This study also proved that high dose IV Vitamin C significantly reduced days of hospitalization for Covid. Kaiser Permanente tested me for Vitamin D last December. I was OPtIMUM after 2 years taking from 2000 IU to 5000 IU depending on sun exposure, less in Summer, more in Winter. I am 145 lbs. and live in the mid-Atlantic area, don’t spend much time in the sun.
