Using 2021 data, U.S. News and World Reports’ feature on the “Best States” has ranked U.S. states on several metrics, including economics, education and health care. The listing also measures natural environment, which is based on a state’s air/water quality and pollution levels.

Pollution was determined based on air and water emissions from industry and utilities, and overall measures to long-term human health effects, using information from the Environmental Protection Agency.

States with the worst pollution

50. Louisiana

49. Nevada

48. Indiana

47. Delaware

46. Utah

45. Ohio

44. Oregon

OR, UT, NV and TX?
Fake news to the max.

Never saw any air pollution in OR, UT or NV and TX is probably limited to oil producing cities.

If they make classic cars adhere to stringent standards they can kiss Hot August Nights goodbye.

Maybe airborne dust from farming and ranching? Or mining operations. Oil operations in TX.

It was once true - truck farms were every where 60-70 years ago. Then the wise city folk decided to tax land according to what it could bare. So the little truck farm got its land taxed as though it was some sort of industrial complex or housing project. Bye-bye truck farm.

The Alaska placement at 29 is ridiculous - most of the state is uninhabited.

Why would you include including economics, education and health care with pollution and then claim it is all about polution?

Totally meaningless and agenda driven. Air quality across the country is magnificent except for small concentrated areas of heavy industry (such as is left remaining in the country) and/or otherwise intrinsically filthy metro areas run by democrats. And as if “classic cars” are a pollution problem!

I would have guessed LA is the most-polluted state. I went to grad school there in the late seventies. NOLA drinking water contained over fifteen known carcinogens. Both Jax and Dixie beers were made with that water, which was barely-treated Mississippi River water.

I have been to every state except North Dakota, and claiming Nevada is #2 is absolutely ludicrous

Mercury contamination from 19th century mining, arsenic in a goodly fraction of the state's well water, and there's that small matter of Nevada being the host to some 974 nuclear explosions, 974 that they'll admit to.

Environmentalists and greenies should stay in that pristine state to the left of us...

New Jersey is the Garden State.
That must be true. It’s on their license plates.

At that time, Melissa Ramos, manager of the Nevada ALA’s Clean Air Advocacy, said the Classic Car loophole was partly to blame for the state’s high emissions.

Sheer nonsense. There are not enough antique cars to have any impact on air quality.

Hard to imagine why Oregon would be among the worst. Best water in the country. Got to be some manipulation going on.

Louisiana is not full of pollution. Southern states get hit with hurricanes that create most of the debris.

Yeah, it's not like filthy rich collectors are a menace mucking up the air while driving around stoned or something.

Delaware is #47... Is it because of the BS spewing from BIDEN? 🤓

My dear Mother cried when she realized i was going to marry and live in NJ. I took her on a ride around the NE area where i lived and she was totally surprised.
