The following is for informational purposes only. Take it with a grain of salt. You are reading it on the internet after all. Also, I wanted to document it, so I thought this would be as good a place as any.
There seems to be another Covid-like disease going around our area. I just spent almost a week in the hospital with a toddler family member and now I have it. Rhinovirus is what they are calling it. One nurse called it “rhinorona.” This one seems to affect children the hardest. I predict shutdowns after the election and another non-vaccine “vaccine” waiting in the wings. “It’s for the children.”
Symptoms include everything. It is different every day.
Day 1: Sore throat. Day 2: Sore throat, fatigue, fever, SPO2 on a home monitor of 89-90. Day 3: Sore throat, fatigue, fever, dry cough, SPO2 87-90. Day 4: Severe sinus pain, almost searing, in the forehead, migrating down to lower jaw pain by the end of the day. Accompanied by swelling of the gums. Dry cough. SPO2 87-92 Day 5: Woke up this morning with a productive cough and no sinus pain but still lots of fatigue. Still low o2. Hopefully almost done.
I have not been tested for Covid, but everyone that has that I know has tested negative repeatedly. Toddler tested positive for rhinovirus/enterovirus but also had a severe infection requiring hospitalization and IV antibiotics.
In all fairness, most of us wouldn’t have thought a virus that acts like the flu and reoccurs every year could shut down society.
Did the doctors ever refer to it as “RSV” - Respiratory syncytial virus? - which I recently had, and it too is less common than the common Flu bugs.
Sneeze, sniffles, blow some snot and have a good day.
Life goes on for the survivors. The sun is gonna rise
come morning time. Have a good one.
No. They differentiated between the two. They said it was not RSV specifically.
Thank you. I’ll check it out.
Definitely. This is like no cold, flu, or Coronavirus I would have had. The doctors were truly confounded in my daughter’s case. She was an emergency case and her symptoms did not make sense. The nurses we talked to said they have never seen anything like it. What was especially strange to me was the difficulty breathing without a cough in the early stages. It was very Covid-like. Of course, I probably wouldn’t have checked my oxygen back then, so I don’t know.
I might have just thought I was smitten by God. You think funny things when you are sick.
exactly
All of the tylenol and ibuprofen are gone at our local stores. I had difficulty sourcing some children’s tylenol and ibuprofen for our daughter to keep the fevers down. Shelves are empty.
On April 30th, I ended up in the emergency room because my blood pressure was 188 over 85, and my face felt tingly. I've been on blood pressure medication for many years, and had already discussed with my doctor, the fact that my blood pressure had crept up to the 140's when it had normally been in the low 120's for a long period of time. My systolic number had always been around 60. They tested me for everything, and the only thing they found was that I was positive for Covid. While at the emergency room, I had the doctor check my throat because my voice had still not returned to normal. He said he saw nothing...no irritation whatsoever.
I finally decided to see an ear, nose and throat doctor. He told me I had rhinitis, and pharyngitis, prescribed a nasal spray, and a one-time medication. He also told me to take one 10 mg. Loratadine every day. My left nostril still runs periodically from the rhinitis. My voice still isn't back to what I consider normal, and I still get gunk in the back of my throat from time to time, that I have to clear. I have to see this doctor in October. In the meantime, I'm also seeing the physician's assistance at my Gastroenterologist's office, to see if I can eliminate acid reflux as the cause. I've been on medication for that since the 80's. Had my last bronscopy last summer. A couple of years ago I had a bad case of acid reflux. Woke up in the middle of the night, with my throat and nose burning. I had eaten a pepperoni flat bread pizza from Walmart the evening before, and the grease was coming out of my nose. I figured I must have aspirated some of the reflux. I coughed up as much of the crap as I could from my lungs. A day or two later, I brought up some yellow mucus, so I called my family doctor, told him about the acid reflux episode and the yellow mucus. He told me that if I started having problems breathing, to go to the emergency room. Fortunately it never got to that. I recovered with no problem, but acid reflux can cause throat irritations too. I'd just like to know why I haven't been able to totally get rid of the gunk in my throat, or my voice getting raspy if I talk too long.
BUT let's not do a news story on this
I remember having a runny nose a couple times in my life. IT WAS BRUTAL! Runny noses aren’t for the faint-hearted. I feel blessed that I survived my RUNNY NOSE.
That’s my experience, and I’m done.. [sigh]
Wow. Sorry you had to go through that. A lot of illnesses going around that are difficult to diagnose these days. It seems like when I was a kid there were only a few to choose from.
It’s not a runny nose, Madam. Thanks for your input though.
No joke. That is shattering news.
Were you vaxxed?
Wow. Sorry about the ICU stay. I hope your son has fully recovered. It looks like the protocol still works! I don’t know why I got lax about it. I was able to stay healthy for long periods of time while on it.
No. Neither was my daughter.
Thanks. I will. If I can get off the symptom roulette wheel and get enough energy back to get out of bed for church on Sunday and work on Monday. I have never been so fatigued in my life. I am in my 40’s, very healthy and very active. I hike regularly, work hard and play hard with my large family. This wekk though, there are moments in my day I can barely lift my arms. I changed a spark plug on a misfiring 6th cylinder on my wife’s car yesterday (changed the ignition coil as well), and I was beat. Had to sit in a chair and do nothing for awhile. Very, very atypical.
Probably just a bad cold, but I’ve never had one so bad.
My dentist’s wife says drinking apple cider vinegar takes care of a if reflex.
Same here. I grew up in the 50's. There were four of us kids. We all got the original polio vaccines, along with chickenpox and measles. None of us ever had the mumps though. I had to have my tonsils and adenoids taken out when I was five because I had chronic earaches.
I was still recuperating from whatever I had in April, when my doctor decided to change my blood pressure and cholesterol medications, and I ended up in the emergency room again because of severe side effects to those medications. The one that was causing the biggest problem was Atorvastatin. Within six days of my having started taking it, it turned my urine dark orange. It went downhill from there. Thankfully I had stopped taking it on my own 5 days before I headed to the emergency room. I knew it was the main medication that was causing the problem. It took me weeks to get back to normal. It screwed up everything they tested in my blood work. Liver and kidney enzymes way too high...others very low. I had a lot of trouble getting my glucose levels back to normal. They were either way too high, or so low, I was shaking uncontrollably. They tested me for Covid/MRSA again at the emergency room, and thankfully they were negative.
