EV runs out of juice, pushed by coal miners
DC tourist ran out of battery in the middle of a remote West Virginia road on Friday, near a coal mine on Mettiki Coal access road U.S. 48, a few miles outside of Davis, according to WTRF.
From FaceBook:
Randy Smith on Friday Some days are just better than others. Today at our mine off Corridor H an electric car from DC ran out of battery at the road entrance to the mine. Someone called one of our foreman and told him a car was broke down in the middle of our haul road. He went to investigate and found out they had indeed ran out of juice coming from DC to Davis for a get away weekend. He then went back to the mine and got guys to push the car to the guard shack so they could plug in to charge. ... See more
I use the same start word almost every day. Today, it yielded no letters but was key in eliminating some. I have a second start word I use if the first one bombs.
Once in a while, I deviate from my normal starter word, but the last time I did, I went X/6. That’s not the reason, but now it makes me..err..leery of using a different starter.
Yep, that’s me, as well. I deviated and as a result, even my second start word didn’t yield all that much. So I get it about being leery of a different starter. It’s like, “if it ain’t broke,” kinda thing, right?
Ratboy elected not to wake up mom at 8:00, woke her at 10: first words out of her mouf were Happy Easter!
Wanted to know if we were feeding everyone in the living room or breakfast nook. All the kids, her dead siblings, mother, and late friends. Cake, ice cream, open presents. Then we’d all sing Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. My female cousin D was going to be Santa, and female cousin J was going to be something else (an elf? she said, but I forgot in the word salad). Wanted to know where I was, and when is everyone showing up? Where are the Christmas ornaments? Where is the poteça I bought?
Are we going to the funeral?
Just got some meds in a big, tall ice chest box. Mom opened it thinking someone sent her a pizza for Christmas.
Oh, dear.
Afternoon, all. I had a phone meeting with my spiritual director, who is doing okay today (he has leukemia), and then had a nap because my sciatica didn’t hurt for a change.
Sally and her boyfriend turned up to borrow the pickup and Vlad to move a sofa.
Maybe you could get her the wireless headphones?
If she would use them.
Most stands shut down after Labor day but at least three that we know of have put up signs directing people to go to the girl's stand. They plan to keep it open until November 1 to finish off the garden and sell the apples and pumpkins and other fall produce.
Friend's Mom says that this has been the best lesson in practical economics they could have had and, like me, she is looking forward to their having to pay their income taxes. Hehehehe.
She will be adding fresh donuts to the menu when the cider comes in. We will have to keep close track of how much we are making because if you make beyond a certain amount of profit on prepared food other regulations kick in.
This will be my last regular Saturday at the store until school is out, otherwise we would never have a day when all of us are off.
She won’t use headphones.
Besides, the point wasn’t to hear the TV, she routinely watches TV with the sound off.
The point was to make double damned sure no one else in the house, two- or four-footed, could sleep.
Oh, dear. I’m so sorry, Nully. This must be extremely difficult for you and your son to deal with.
I wish I knew how to help in the way you need it most.

I’m glad to hear your spiritual director is doing well.
And good on ya for a decent nap without sciatic pain!
Are Sally and her BF moving into a place of their own? Or just found a sofa to replace one that went missing?
When Anoreth moves out, Sally is going to throw away the sofa that Dog has been on for way too many years. Meanwhile, Sally’s boyfriend’s grandparents were getting rid of a sofa, which will give Sally and Pat a dog-less sofa. It’s leather or faux-leather, so Sally’s cat won’t shred it.
The boyfriend has a rental house with a roommate and dogs.
Oh. OK. Is Anoreth moving into bigger, better quarters?
It makes sense that Sally and Pat (her brother?) It sounds like an all around good deal, actually. I probably missed the part about Pat moving in with her and Anoreth. Or just spaced it, which seems more likely.
(I’m not doing all that well today, for some reason.)
It confuses us, too. I’ll go over it all tomorrow.
Glad to hear you had a pain-free nap and I hope you’re getting a good night’s sleep.
And also glad to hear your spiritual director is doing better. I’ll send up a little prayer anyway.
Just what I wanted! An invisible kitteh!
Good morning. I hope you slept well.
The image you posted didn’t come through. Nothing but a tiny square box on this end.
I’m thinking very seriously of going back to bed. I’m very tired this morning. Maybe I can sneak out for another hour. Haha.
Huh. I can see it here. Maybe if you click on the box, it would let you copy the address.
I went out for a walk. My leg hurts. I think going back to bed would be a great idea, but I won’t.
I tried everything I knew how to do to get the picture to show but it won’t show.
Yes, going back to bed sounds great, but I’m going to take my shower now and let the chips fall where they may!
For what it’s worth, my Foursies and Fivers are still tied.
(Also for what it’s worth, “Foursies” is a term we used while playing jacks in grade school!)
Today’s word wasn’t much fun to work with, but I can’t expect them all to be stumpers!
