The body found near the Memphis crime scene late Sunday has been identified as missing teacher and young mother Eliza Fletcher, the Memphis Police Department confirmed.
Fletcher was abducted while she was running near the University of Memphis early Friday morning. Agents with the U.S. Marshals Service arrested Cleotha Abston, 38, on Saturday after matching his DNA to a pair of sandals found near the scene.
Abston was charged Tuesday morning with first-degree murder, in addition to his previous charges, records show.

We lived in our house for 33 years before we sold it and moved.
The best neighbors we had in all that time were a black family, good Christian people, not like the liberal neighbors that let their dog crap in my yard, and treated us with contempt without getting to know us.
When I was laid up for a time my neighbor and his son would come over and do my yard work for me.
I miss them, should drop in some time and see how they are.
I’m a male and would never stop in that situation with the way the world is today. It definitely seems like you avoided a trap with the guy waving at you holding jumper cables.
Unless it’s a person I know, I’m not going to help you because it’s not worth the risk. Many states now offer road side assistance and if someone’s car is “broken down” they can contact them for help with their vehicle.
About 10 years ago I began putting up security cameras around the outside of our house, my wife thought it was a joke. She made fun or it for a while.
I hadn’t finished installing all of the cameras when my next door neighbors car got broken into in his driveway.
When I showed her I had footage of the criminal walking across our front yard at 4:30 in the morning she realized it wasn’t a joke.
After that all she wanted to know was when I was going to finish putting up the rest of the cameras.
It’s all about being prepared.
Scary story. Lots of good advice. Glad your DIL is ok!
“The proper terminology is “indigenous urban peoples.”

Dang, it was supposed to be a brief tutorial on how to post a picture but I screwed it up.
Yup, Darwin Award candidate perhaps.
The probability of a white person being victimized rise dramatically as areas’ racial composition changes
http://www.lagriffedulion.f2s.com/hood.htm
Summary
We have modeled violent victimization of whites in a racially mixed neighborhood. Our model is based on data collected by the Justice Department and reported in the NCVS. It paints a bleak picture for whites. As a neighborhood turns black, violent victimization of its white residents begins immediately. At first the risk is small, not much different from its previous all-white level. However, by the time the neighborhood reaches the half-black point, every white family of four has better than a one in three chance of being victimized within a year.
Two factors account for black-on-white violence.
1) Blacks are 3 times more likely to commit violent crime than whites, and
2) black thugs prefer white victims, selecting them 64 times more than white thugs choose black victims.
Most of the risk faced by whites, results from the predilection of black thugs to prey upon whites. As a neighborhood becomes overwhelmingly black, the risk curve for whites rises to ominous heights. In the last stages of transformation, the likelihood of a white being victimized within a year becomes a virtual certainty.

You can't just snag a favorite picture from a desktop folder...it has to be hosted someplace on line to be posted here. Best bet is to save the image to an image hosting service, I use imgbb. In Firefox right click and select "Copy image location", in Safari right click and select "Open image in new tab" and copy the address in the address bar. Other browsers have similar tricks. Imgbb allows you to imbed codes to do all the HTML heavy lifting automatically.

Now about that home page of yours…
Protip: Make the very first thing <blockquote> this will move everything that follows a wee bit to the right, giving you a nice left margin. Of course since any HTML command anywhere will be assumed to require HTML for every bit of text, all your paragraphs will need to have paragraph <p>, and line breaks <br>…
Memphis is a cage of feral predators. I'm nervous driving through there on the Interstate in the daytime with my loaded pistol on the seat next to me, and I'm a guy.
Isn’t that the truth, women’s instincts! I imagine there are women everywhere who have had the, “no, not today” moments which saved their lives. I also wonder how many women have erroneously ignored their instincts with “I am not a racist” or “but he looks so nice” or “there are people everywhere, what could go wrong”.
Our neighbors across the street fit the same profile. They've been there over thirty years, I think; we moved in less than a year ago. We have not talked politics, but they're too nice to be progressives.
We don't have any flaming lib neighbors that I know of. The guy two doors down flies a "Let's Go Brandon" flag under the Stars and Stripes.
The counties surrounding me have less than 1% black population here in N. Central Arkansas. I rarely see a black person. One county just South of me has <1% ethnics. West Memphis, the Delta, and Little Rock have concentrated populations and are dangerous. West Tennessee has been infiltrated by Memphis and has become dangerous IMO.
For those who exhibit the behavior, yes. But ONLY for them.
I would not run here at that time of day and I live in a quiet country setting. Nothing good usually happens after midnight or before about 5 or 6.
Why does it take 6 reporters to write this story? Has everything become an inclusive team activity?
Went to Graceland about 10 yrs ago....
We went a few months ago. Was scared to leave that oasis in the center of a harrowing surrounding. Even driving around a 5-mile radius unfolded no signs of security. Was actually comforted to return to our room, and then got the hell out ASAP when our time was up. So sad. We will never attend again.
Memphis? Unless her family provides massive campaign bribes, the feral animal will be out on the streets by sundown.
A friend of mine was at the drug store in broad daylight when some guy grabbed her and attempted an abduction. Unfortunately, the reason she was at the drugstore was because she had a horrible cold which included laryngitis. When she tried to scream, only a ‘croak’ came out. She fought him like a tiger - very petite (probably one reason he picked her). She ended up on the pavement kicking at him with her feet as he tried to subdue her.
A man in the same parking lot had seen them fighting. He thought it was a ‘domestic’ and was staying out of it. Since the fight continued and was looking more desperate, he finally decided to intervene, yelling something like “hey, what’s going on there?” At this point, the attacker broke it off and fled. My friend was very shaken up and bruised up. The police told her that this appeared (by description & MO) to be the same guy who had attacked another woman in the same parking lot a couple of days before.
So yeah, daylight and being in a public place does not make a difference to some people. Mistake my friend made: she had picked up her prescription AND a book to read while she was at home. She was leafing through the pages, not paying attention to her surroundings as she was walking to her car. She looked like “prey” - her small stature didn’t help.
Even in daylight, when you walk out of a store, STOP. Look around. Look at your vehicle ... anything strange going on (van parked next to it), other cars, people loitering in cars, etc. If “surveying the scene” appears ok, walk with a PURPOSE - head up/on a swivel, striding out. You look aware, like you will see a predator coming & like you are no easy target.
IF you are ever approached by someone trying to be “helpful” (let me load those groceries for you), tell them NO, I do NOT need help. If they do not take “NO” for an answer, that is a major red flag. Do not say something like “that’s ok, I think I can handle this myself”. That is not a NO. If the person persists, tell them NO again, mayby put your hand up in a “stop” motion .... if you have to, don’t worry about being “rude”. NO, I do NOT need help - GO AWAY. [This situation happened to my mom at a Walmart, in broad daylight, BTW]
If you want to ‘read more about it’, check out this great book (gave a copy to all of my nieces when they went to college): Gavin De Becker’s The Gift of Fear. Part of the book is on profiling threats which may not be of that much interest (if an employer, public figure it would be), but the parts on listening to your gut, red flags (like someone who does not respect NO), and other info is well worth the price.
Your hubby isn’t wrong to be so cautious - he must care about you very much :-)
You left out the “a” after the back slash at the end.
