A woman who went into premature labor at home called 911 for help, but the negligence of the EMTs who responded to the call reportedly contributed directly to the death of her baby. Both EMTs’ licenses have been suspended by the Rhode Island Department of Health.
On August 1, Shawn Hoyle and Jarrod Martin responded to a call regarding a woman in labor. According to the investigation, when they arrived, the mother was in the bathroom, having already delivered her baby. She had left the umbilical cord intact, and her baby was in the toilet. Martin and Hoyle cut the umbilical cord and, leaving the premature baby in the toilet, took the mother into the living room to attend to her.
When they returned to the bathroom, they said the baby didn’t have a pulse and didn’t respond when they tapped his or her foot. Rather than engaging in neonatal resuscitation as required, they merely wrapped the baby in a towel and then placed the baby into a biohazard bag.
The mother was taken by ambulance to Landmark Medical Center while her baby was still in the biohazard bag. After the mother was taken into the emergency room, the baby was left in the biohazard bag in the ambulance, ignored until a doctor asked about the child. A charge nurse retrieved the baby, the hospital staff were able to find a pulse, and resuscitation was attempted. Unfortunately, it was too late at this point, and the baby passed away.
Sadly, infants being left to die in toilets is not an uncommon occurrence. Children born alive after abortions are also left to die, with abortion staffers routinely telling patients to leave the bodies in the toilet. A 2013 Live Action undercover video shows a counselor and abortionist advising a young woman to sit on the toilet to give birth if she goes into labor unexpectedly during her late-term abortion procedure.
Typically, women who leave their babies to die in a toilet are arrested, but though Hoyle and Martin lost their EMT licenses, there seems to be no criminal investigation into their conduct.
Sounds like everyone involved decided to view this as a “clump of cells”. The pro-abortion mindset rots this society.
Was the mother on pills to end pregnancy or was this really a desperate situation?
It seems the EMT were too quick to declare the baby dead and did not take all measures when they found a baby in a toilet - but let’s focus here. Its the mother who killed the baby.

Who in hell writes this trash? What are they talking about? Babies dying in toilets is common? WTH!
Monsters.
911 is a joke.
This is a tragedy. All indications are that the mother expected to keep this baby alive. But what really surprises me is the birth was on Aug 1, and already the full names of the two EMS attendents are being released to the public.
I would have expected all to remain confidential “until the investigation has been completed”.
It looks bad for the attendants, but I dont have all the facts to consider.
I’m guessing they focused on the Mom because they presumed the Baby was already dead.
Perhaps those “EMTs” should reach the status of a “clump of cells” and be tossed into a biohazard waste disposal bag.
I have an ancestor who was born over a toilet. Her mom didn’t know she was carrying twins, apparently the doctor and nurse didn’t either, they finished up and she went to the toilet and had a second baby. Who managed to live to age 91 despite being a puny preemie.
I don’t get that sense at all, lee. The fact that the baby was in the toilet when the EMT’s arrived would seem to militate against that.
“Two words: Kermit Gosnell.
You forgot my posts on him already? Shit like that went on in his abortion mill every day.”
Yes I know, however this writer is writing as if babies dying in toilets is a normal happening all over the country. They’re trying to normalize evil. And it seems to me that they’re going to use the recent SC decision to say, this is what happens, this is the new normal.
My 4th baby was born in the front passenger seat of a car in the hospital parking lot (I didn’t quite make it to the INSIDE of the hospital). The EMT (happened to be in a nearby ambulance in the parking lot, summoned by my husband) who delivered my 4th was very proud to have done so—his very first delivery!
Very sad the EMT in this story didn’t simply fish the baby out of the toilet; would have taken one second.
>> All indications are that the mother expected to keep this baby alive. <<
What indications? Leaving the baby in a toilet is hardly one, and we have no indication that EMS was called for anything other than helping HER. Did she once ask, “where’s my baby?”
Without an iota of training, I'd think anyone on earth would instinctively get the baby out of the water by pure instinct. Mom must have been incapacitated somehow, too.
Probably bleeding.
Have the abortion-lovers ordered the EMTs to let babies die? Kind of an assisted abortion?
Was the mother in critical condition? Few women who give birth are. A baby in a toilet is certainly in critical condition.
Maybe it was so obscured by bloody water that the EMTs didn’t see it, thought they were dealing with an early miscarriage.
For the sake of the mother, treat the baby with reverence, even if you think it dead. No toilet.
There was an EMT in NJ who basically ignored the bloody bag in the corner when his sister gave birth - took her to the hospital, and left the nearly full term baby to die.
I’ve heard of “water birthing”, but IN A TOILET?
Abortion has debased babies so much that too many women equate giving birth with taking a DUMP!
F-ING ANIMALS!
