A week or so ago a FReeper fired up a post predicting a Labor Day weekend potent hurricane for the GOM (Gulf of Mexico). Well lo and behold there's a system out east that the NHC is forecasting/hyping to be near the US just in time. There's also a 'disturbance' about the depart the west coast of Africa on the tails of the first one.
Just in time for September, eh?
You might want to see if you can loosen your tinfoil hat.
Yeah. Always a tad concerned that a lot of energy is building up in the atmosphere and the warmth of the waters waiting to get together for a party in September.
At the time of the post, I went to the Microsoft Weather and checked out the radar. There were in fact several green patches off the west African coast. This morning the green is much more extensive.
So, there is weather building that seasonally results in a hurricane
No hurricanes? No problem. We do miss the musings of NautiNurse however.
When I was growing up in Boston, one of the local news shows had a reporter called Shelby Scott. Every time we had inclement weather, they'd shove her outside with a cameraman and they'd go to various locations in the Boston area to do liveshots.
She'd go through the whole pantomime of holding her hat on and swaying in breezes like it was hurricane force winds, slogging through snowbanks like they were ten foot drifts and in general always made it seem like she was braving conditions that were not fit for beast nor man.
Meanwhile, if you looked in the background carefully, you could sometime see people going out their normal business, cars leisurely driving by.
But the people sitting at home ate it up. It was "Brave, brave Shelby Scott, she boldly goes where mortals dare not."
Prepper ping.
No time like the present to get ready for it. Beats waiting until you are in the teeth of the storm to head out for water, milk, eggs, and bread.
And find out there’s none.
While I do have some world class, custom tin foil hats for OTHER topics, this was more about pointing out what NOAA/NHC is doing to gin up to storms.
That clip always cracked me up.
And the MSM wonders why nobody believes them.
I remember that. The very definition of fake news.
😆😂🤣🤪 That was great!! Well done!
The problem with the previous post was saying there would be (not might be, would be) a big Hurricane on Labor Day.
To far out to predict, and no sourcing.
Now we are in the window to see if anything is forming.
Current la niña conditions tend to lead to active Fall Atlantic hurricane seasons. The quiet season of the last few months may come to an end due to weather conditions in the Pacific.
I agree. It was pretty b@llsy to be so definitive.
It’s September, so be prepared and watchful. Condition yellow so to speak.
Might be prudent to watch that blob in the Gulf of Campeche (sp?) once they decide on steering models for it.

Excerpt...
With tornado watches issued shortly
Before noon Sunday, for the areas including
The western region of my mental health
And the northern portions of my
Ability to deal rationally with my
Disconcerted precarious emotional situation
Flash flood watches covered the
Southern portion of my disposition
There was no severe weather well
Into the afternoon
Except for a lone gust of wind in the bedroom
And a weak pressure ridge extending from
My eyes down to my cheeks cause since you left me baby
And put the vice grips on my mental health
Well the extended outlook for an indefinite period of time until you
Come back to me baby
Is high tonight, low tomorrow,
and precipitation is expected

Post #8 includes a current graphic map of possible Hurricane development
Be aware,.. Forewarned is forearmed !
Erik Latranyi : “ Considering that we have not had a tropical depression in the month of August,
it would not be a surprise to see September become far more active. “
(My Comment) : All that warm water pent up energy has to go somewhere, and do something. It doesn't just disappear !
Mother Nature always looks for balance !
We know that the time to prepare is when others are not preparing; it is simply stated as the law of "Supply vs. Demand "
Chat and discussion:
This has to be the longest summer of my nearly 7 decades. It started early and won’t go away. When I stepped out this morning early it was already over 80 and the air was heavy sticky. No rain to speak of for the whole summer. The ground is just dust for feet.
...and 57 or 58 days without even a named storm. (nearing a record of 60 something) Greenies are nervous
